Hello and welcome to the LendLedger weekly update. LendLedger is a platform using a Stellar blockchain and open APIs to help over 200 million financially underserved small businesses borrow money. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

LendLedger’s week in Singapore:

LendLedger CEO Gautam Ivatury and Head of Product Greg De Forest headed to Singapore last week where we spoke at CryptoEconomy Singapore and presented at Token Pals pitch night. This week, we were also a gold sponsor of the Blockchain Summit Singapore where Gautam spoke about the LendLedger project and how its approach is driving innovation in small business lending. We really enjoyed addressing the questions of so many engaged individuals as we fundamentally believe that our community’s input is what will drive this project to success. So don’t hesitate to connect with us on Telegram and keep asking!

Gautam Ivatury on “Why it’s Time to Embrace Blockchain” featured in NextBillion:

Gautam shared his thoughts on the need to destigmatize the idea of creating a new cryptocurrency in the NextBillion. Blockchain and digital assets (crypto-tokens) have the potential to re-shape healthcare and financial services, amongst other sectors. When a blockchain stores data, parties can trust each other without an intermediary. This means less risk of fraud, exclusion, breaches and errors in health records, credit histories, land titles and even identities. It also expands the potential for innovation, inclusion and efficiency due to blockchain’s open, decentralized approach. Given this potential, Gautam argues that we need more social impact professionals to enter the space so that unprecedented progress can be achieved. Read his full piece here.

LendLedger joins the FintechProtects Community of Practice:

We’re really excited to have joined The Smart Campaign’s FintechProtects Community of Practice (CoP). The FintechProtects CoP is a group of practitioners who are working together to build industry will and know-how to address emerging consumer risks in digital financial services. This community was designed to help advance the Smart Campaign’s vision of ensuring that digital financial services offer the greatest value to consumers while maintaining adequate protections. Responsible lending practices is at the heart of the LendLedger platform and we could not be more enthused to be part of a community where these best practice issues will be discussed with other Lenders. More on this here.
