New LG Inverter PTAC: When counting sheep is simply not enough

The difference between restful and restless sleep can be massive. Restful sleep recharges business travelers, enables vacationers to truly unplug, and is an indicator to property managers that they’re delivering optimal service. Restless sleep — if related to the property — can be a nightmare for property managers. A negative guest experience can be consuming for the front-of-house and ops teams to manage; it may trigger cancellation or affect re-booking by a guest or group. A bad night’s sleep can even damage the brand if it finds its way into online and social media reviews.

For many, a comfortable night’s sleep starts with the right temperature and noise level in the room environment*.

According to Healthline, the ideal temperature for sleeping is from 60–67°F**, leaving a nearly ten-degree difference that could make or break a guest’s stay. On top of that, the noise from a typical packaged terminal air conditioner (PTAC) averages between 46 to 61 dBA*** — a range of volume comparable to moderate snoring to a busy streetscape. Sleep is further interrupted when the noise is intermittent, kicking on and off throughout the night.

These are the challenges that keep the LG Air Conditioning Technologies team up at night! To address the challenges, LG recently introduced a new LG Inverter PTAC that heats and cools a single space and features humidity control for the optimal guest experience. The new LG Inverter PTAC delivers greater temperature consistency and control with a 39dba on low fan speed and improved energy performance. Ideal for hospitality where aesthetics are important considerations, the new Inverter PTAC sports an elegant, contemporary look.

“The new inverter PTAC is inspired by input from our North America hospitality clients,” Donald Decker, Director of Vertical Market Sales said today. “It’s a considerable advance in guest comfort, energy efficiency, and space optimization. And because the technology has already been proven in Asia and Europe, there’s a strong installed base in the hospitality trade. Hospitality professionals will come for the performance, reliability and lower cost of ownership, but they will stay for the positive impact on the guest experience.”

LG’s Air Conditioning Technologies team has made control of our PTACs and other LG indoor units easy. Whether new build or retrofit, achieve seamless integration with your favorite hotel thermostat manufacturer. LG’s Hotel Connectivity Suite supports major hotel thermostat manufacturers and offers both wired and wireless solutions, providing hotel operators greater flexibility, more choice, and with no loss of inverter efficiency.

The new LG Hotel Connectivity Suite also gives guests more options. Room temperature preferences can be set by the guest remotely from loyalty program smartphone apps, by the guest using an LG hospitality television, by using the tactile in-room thermostat, or can be preset by property managers.

LG’s Air Conditioning Technologies’ offerings are part of the One LG initiative (more here), enabling hospitality clients to have a single point of access for product procurement, logistics and support. One LG ensures owners, flagship properties and property managers enjoy the scale of working with an innovation-leader in multiple functional areas and also access economies and efficiencies of sourcing with one partner.

“As technology advances and integration gets tighter, hotels can capitalize on platform partnerships to provide guests with greater comfort, customization and control,” David Clary, Senior Account Manager, LG Electronics Commercial Division, said today. “In doing so, the property can also realize significant economic and efficiency gains and improve its sustainability profile. We’re pleased to partner with the team at LG Air Conditioning Technologies to support hospitality clients in this way.”

Decker agrees. “Being part of the LG global organization gives our air conditioning technologies group access to a wealth of innovations as well as the ability to scale to our customers’ needs, but it also means hospitality clients get the assurance of high quality that comes with the LG brand. That’s especially reassuring when you consider the cost of ownership over the lifetime of the units.”

Like its commitment to high-quality and proven manufacturing capabilities, sustainability is a key tenet of the LG business philosophy and is centrally important for many hospitality brands. The LG Hotel Connectivity Suite and LG Inverter PTAC exemplify LG’s commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability. Both have a strong economic impact and have considerable potential to improve the sustainability performance of hotels and resorts — now that’s something that can help us all sleep better!
