Synopsis: It’s 2020 and all dystopian Donald Trump fears come true. Obama (played by Denzel), leads a coup from Chicago to reinstate democracy. The country is safe, but it will never be the same again.

Opening Scene in Liberty Falls: The Book of Barack
We open to the Beverly Hills Country Club.
In this scene we meet former president Barack Obama. He is tempered by age and tired. Extremism has reached epic levels on the political right and response movements on the left. In fact, the political landscape has splintered into several groups. It’s difficult for the news media to keep track of every movement or even know which ones are legit or scams, but there are rough estimates of around 7–9 political parties polling at around 8% of the vote, with the remaining 40% or so of registered votes split between the old guard Republicans and Democrats.
We open to a shot behind Obama. His hair is almost entirely gray. Blinding lights shine into the camera, we can make out that there is a crowd he is speaking to, sitting down at dinner tables, and it’s a small and elite gathering. People are sitting at nice tables. Waiters are making sure everyone has enough water. We hear glasses clink.
Music fades out, we hear the crowd laugh.
Obama: “Well, at least they couldn’t roll back the fact I was the first black president!”
More laughter.
Obama: “But to answer your question, yes. I am concerned. And it’s not just with President Trump and his over-reaching. I’m concerned with our inability as a country to have a dialogue. And I hold Saul and Franken guilty of this as well. We can’t remain in these tribes. The process of conciliation has to begin.
Obama’s words fade….. but he is still talking.
We now hear his inner-monologue. The purpose of this initial monologue is to show an Obama who is as sharp as ever, but also one who is exhausted and perhaps beaten down or even paranoid. He has been touring the country trying to raise funds to bring the Democratic party back to its former glory. But he has come to the conclusion and is getting ready to pitch it to his political comrades that to save the Democratic party he must also bring the GOP into a stable place. Their splintering is what lead to the Democratic party’s collapse.
Parts of the monologue:
“In hindsight, anyone could have seen it coming if they just retrace the steps. The back and forth of history. The pendulum swing of time…..”
“It was mutually assured destruction and we followed it all the way down.”
At this point: The camera is off Obama and instead we see images of history. From 2016–2020 we see images of made up protests, fires, etc. All with Obama’s monologue explaining what has happened.
We also see
Black Lives Protesters taking the mic from Bernie Sanders in Seattle.
IMMEDIATELY CUTS TO City Clerk Kim Davies standing with Huckabee after she was released from jail.
“The dominoes were all set up and all he had to do was tilt the first one ever so slightly.”
Images of Occupy Wall Street protests CUTS TO Abortion Clinic protests CUTS TO random YouTube fight video CUTS BACK TO Other iconic images of political turmoil in the last few years.
“It was the scorched earth policy that put us in this predicament. If he couldn’t have power, nobody could.”
On camera fast cuts between: Dominoes. Bush Jr. and Al Gore debate, Hillary Clinton during the Benghazi hearing, Katrina victims… more iconic images…. speeding up until we get to
Airplane heading toward the WTC buildings. In slow motion. But the plane won’t hit the building.
“It was set in motion all those years ago. And now I need to set it right. But we have to go back to the beginning. We have to set the conditions to confront and fix this. We can’t reap what we don’t sow. And right now our fields are poisoned.”
On Camera: Before the plane hits the building — the camera cuts to…..Two men dressed in 1st Century garb. One kisses the other on the cheek. Two Romans then pull that man away. The man yells “Judas”
Cut back to Obama on screen and his inner monologue: “Anyone could have seen it coming.”
Obama is nervous about getting to the crux of his talk — where he will ask liberal Hollywood elite to help fund not just the Democratic party… but the GOP as well. Obama is going to pitch a new process of campaign funding that institutionalizes a two party system. His inner monologue ends with, “I still need to feel this crowd out before I lay it on the table. I don’t know how far the the Judas kiss goes.”
Inner monologue fades out.
A question to Obama fades in (somebody at a mic). The question is more of a rant. As it continues the camera zooms in on Secret Service Lead Guile Fawkes
We hear his inner thoughts.
At first the secret service agent’s thoughts are on the job. He is scanning the room. He also notices his colleagues breaking protocol and being lazy. He is going to reprimand them later. It’s not easy being the youngest lead Agent to ever be assigned to protect a former president.
He continues to scan the room, but it’s safe. In a soft whisper he speaks into his communication device “Goose should be ending his speech in 10, get the car ready.”
At that point, Guile focuses in on what Obama is saying

“And so I propose we unite with the Republicans.”
(murmer in the crowd)
“Now, hear me out,” Obama gives a “calm” motion with his hand.
“We will continue to have our differences. And that’s good. We should. But those were always differences that could be reconciled through compromise and understanding. Now, do you really think the Alt Right and Left Front will ever be able to do that? We need a way to come together and the Democrats and Republicans need to do it together, or else I fear we may never have a way to get things back on track. Now I know there have been battle scars and things said. But I think this is the only way.”
The crowd is visibly uncomfortable.
“Now I can’t do this alone. And neither can they. But this is how we can get the country back on the right track.”
Crowd shifting, one person gets up.
Scene……
Insert car scene to show repoire between Obama and Guile — they joke. Talk about Michelle and the kids, etc.
