How Our Editorial Team Review Your Articles

If you are an undergraduate of the IT Faculty, University of Moratuwa, you are by default eligible to write to LinkIT!

LinkIT’s objective is to promote article writing among the faculty’s undergraduates to open a path for technical writing. Our experienced editorial panel makes sure that the articles you submit to LinkIT are written with the best practices of writing in Medium.

The Review Process of LinkIT

The reviewing process of LinkIT can take from a few hours to a few days, depending on the mistakes that are there in your article, and how responsive you are to the review suggestions given by our editors.

Our editors review your article for the following aspects;

  • Language — Grammar, Punctuation, Writing style
  • Images used
  • Technical Accuracy
  • Relevancy of your Article to LinkIT’s objectives

What Happens if Your Article has Issues?

If the article you sent in has any issues according to the above-mentioned aspects, our editors will leave you private notes at the erroneous places. If you have not unsubscribed from Medium emails, you will for sure be informed by Medium, telling that you have got a private note to your story.

Then you are expected to correct the errors/suggestions mentioned by our editors. After you have corrected them, our editors will review the article again, and if it is error-free, it will be published on LinkIT.

How to Get Your Article Up on LinkIT Within the Shortest Time?

If your article does not contain any mistakes from the aspects given above, then your article can even be published on LinkIT the same day!

So here are some tips you can follow to get your article up on LinkIT within the shortest time.

1. Reducing Language Errors

English is not our mother tongue. So there is no issue in making language errors. But, to get more views and claps for your article, and to make the lives of our editors easy, you can always review your own article for any language errors.

We recommend that you install the Grammarly extension to your browser when writing articles. It will help you detect language errors and correct them before sending them in.

2. Using ‘Free to Use’ Images

The LinkIT editorial panel always tries to keep you away from trouble when you use images in your articles.

The images you use should be free from copyright issues. If you, by any chance use images that have any sort of copyright issue, there is a chance that you can even get sued by its rightful owner. Therefore, when you pick images for your article, make sure to read our Image Selection Guide.

If you are not cooperative enough to use free to use images, our editors will replace the images. No offense, this is done for your own good.

3. Be Sure of What You Write

It can be your own finding or even something that is already out there. Whatever you write about, your content should be accurate.

If our editors find that your article contains technically inaccurate information, they will of course inform you to research it further.

But, if you fail to do so, there is always a chance that your article can get rejected. Yikes!

So to stay out of the danger zone, make sure you know what you write about!

4. Check if Your Article’s Content Matches the Objectives of LinkIT

As you can see from the publication’s columns, our publication is mainly focused on technology-related articles. And also, LinkIT acts as a platform where you can tell the world about your achievements, while being a student at the Faculty of IT, University of Moratuwa.

Nevertheless, you are welcome to send in articles that you think are worth sharing with your fellow colleagues and beyond as LinkIT wants to showcase your talents to the world!
