Life Is …
There are many truths in this world
that touch the very essence of things,
that cannot be denied even if we tried
for we feel them so painfully in our lives.
Truths that are as old as time,
but which we try so stubbornly to put aside
for they are too much to take
in a world that we are trying to create.
Life is beauty and grace,
life is suffering and pain,
life is happiness and joy,
life is ugliness and despair.
Uncertainty is written in every thread
that is weaved by destiny’s hand,
and nothing beneath the sky and the stars
was meant to last.
We can live only here and now
for tomorrow may never come,
but that’s not what we want to admit
for it’s not the life we want to lead.
Life doesn’t give us what we want
it gives us what we need,
but who needs pain, destruction, and suffering,
who deserves such a thing?
