Henry the mouse lives in fear.

He sleeps under the floorboards, listening to the footsteps of the two humans and the cat. They want him dead.

They’ve gotten his family. The mouse remembers listening, as his father was stepped on, the shoe slowly pressing on his small body; splintering bones eclipsed only by high-pitched screams. He’d never heard his father scream before that day.

Then the cat got his mother. It’d trapped her in a corner, and played with her, making her think she could escape. It grew bored with this game, and ripped off her legs, and watched her bleed to death. And Henry could do nothing, but watch from under the chair where he hid.

His sister was the last. The cat was merciful. It didn’t play with her. It just ripped her head off; left the carcass on the floor for Henry to find.

Henry the mouse lives in fear. He can’t stay under the floorboards forever. He’ll need to leave to get some food soon. Just to nibble on some crumbs. Drink some dirty water under the sink. And for this, the two humans and the cat want to kill him.

Henry is angry. In his dreams, he seeks revenge.

In his dreams, he is no longer small. He is a giant. He towers over the house, like a monster from a fairy tale. His small yellow teeth become long tusks…
