Longing For A Water Drop

In response to Literary Impulse’s prompt ‘Hiraeth’

I will look for you
in the pale reflection
of the water drops.

The slippery mirror of you in my eye,
water embodying the presence of thought
that lives within me.

Light playing, shadows fading,
the fluent notion of the shape
I came to know so well.

Sunlight caught in the water drop,
diamonds born out of love
between earthly and divine.

Longing for the time passed by,
waiting for the better ones to arrive.
Within the water drop, I find what I miss,
the memory that feels like a bliss.

Your deep blue eyes like all the rivers,
lakes, and the seas reflect the idea of me.
My heart, my soul, my very essence
trembling before the recollection of caresses.

The intimacy we shared during the night and the day
is starting to feel like a lovely fairy tale.
All the things I never dared to dream,
a silent whisper to an angel's ear.

You are the answer to my deepest longing,
the despair of existence between wishing and hoping.
Life is a cruel game of chance,
grab it before it slips away.

Love I believed was only a lie,
an illusion that makes us sigh.
Little did I know that I would be taken,
by your love and adoration.

Waterdrop so pure and deep
in its power over sunlight is making me weep.
It hides nothing in its transparency,
disregarding the question of honesty.

Light sets tenderly in its being
creating magic for everyone to see.
In my love, my despair, and my fire
I will look for you in the rainbow of my desire.

The only feeling that’s in my heart
is hiraeth, for that is where you are found.

This poem was written as a response to the magical prompt ‘Hiraeth’ given by Elisabeth Khan of Literary Impulse.

Prompt came with a request of tagging five writers to continue the chain, so I will be so free to tag several amazing writers and invite them to join the challenge: Daemon, America Zed, Christopher Madsen, Ann Marie Steele, Franco Amati to write, in a form of their own choice, having the word “mirror” as a thought, inspiration or a thread.

Editorial Note- This piece is a submission for our ongoing theme-based event as mentioned above.

The best of these will be selected on 25th September and featured on our website(https://www.literaryimpulse.com/). And also as an Amazon Book.
