The Livepeer hacks kept coming at ETHGlobal’s HackFS 2021, a marathon of innovation that lasted nearly a month and generated 150+ submissions from 670 hackers in 70 countries who jockeyed for $175,000 in prizes.

Livepeer, one of 22 HackFS sponsors, posted a bounty of $4,000 for the coolest ideas that leveraged our distributed video architecture. Here are the five projects that shared in that prize pool:

· Meme-verse: So much creativity goes into memes these days, and yet their creators often go without credit, even when their conceptions go viral. To solve this, the Meme-verse team has built a platform that lets meme builders mint their creations as NFTs, so they have proof of ownership. Fans can seek out and buy their favorites, and gain access to the creator’s Livepeer-powered livestream as an added bonus.

· Landpeer: Owners of virtual land in the Metaverse (e.g. Decentraland, Cryptovoxels, Somnium Space) will be soon able to parade their properties before prospective buyers thanks to the team behind Landpeer, a Chrome extension that allows sellers to livestream NFT real estate on the digital property platform WeMeta.

· Easy Web3: With Easy Web3, even a non-coder can build a website powered by web3 tech simply by dragging and dropping web3-enabled components — including video and audio players — onto a prepared canvas. And since Unlock is integrated into Easy Web3, website owners can tuck whatever content they choose behind a paywall.

· DBeats: The censorship-resistant livestreaming platform DBeats allows musicians and content creators to re-stream content on platforms of their choosing — from Twitch to Facebook — using Livepeer. Artists can even release full audio albums and create NFTs so they can share their beats with fans. And an integrated on-ramp for fiat currencies allows audiences to donate directly to the acts they love.

· Blockhead: Blockhead, an interface that allows users to track, visualize and explore their blockchain assets and web3 activity, seized the opportunity presented by HackFS to revamp its protocol and add a host of new web3-focused features. Among these is a dedicated Livepeer app dashboard.

The team behind Kharma, another HackFS contender, also plan to tap Livepeer’s distributed infrastructure for their musician-focused streaming platform. With Kharma, musical artists will be able to build profiles, livestream concerts, connect with fans and release exclusive tracks. They can even add voting to their profiles, so followers can have a say on everything from concert garb to song line-ups. Fans, meanwhile, can buy NFT tickets for exclusive content, or show support with tips during livestreamed performances.

The outstanding hacks that have emerged this year have been incredibly impressive, from broadcasting marketplaces to livestream NFT minting protocols.

It will be exciting to see what happens at ETHOnline this fall, when more than 1,000 engineers, designers and creators are set to come together for three weeks of summits, workshops and web3 development. The event will run from September 17th to October 15th and promises more than $150,000 in total prize money.

Have a brilliant idea for a project? Let Livepeer inspire you too!
