I am Aditya. I am the founder and sole employee of Roundhop Inc. If you’ve read my previous blog, I explain how my friend and I got fed up with online dating as it is now. We decided there had to be a better approach to dating than profiles and algorithms.

With Roundhop, we wanted people to meet face-to-face, just like in the real world. We took speed dating online and started conducting events in New York and San Francisco. Each person gets to meet 10 people face-to-face right from their home within an hour.

These events are hosted by us, at a time fixed by us — say next Saturday at 8PM. The thing is, not many people are free at next Saturday at 8PM. We needed to find a way to give over the power of choosing a time to our users. So we built a new feature — moments.

With moments, you can choose who you want to meet at a time convenient for you. Once you invite someone, they can accept your invitation or suggest a different time. Once both of you decide on a time, we will conduct a private one-one-one date just for you. All you need to do is log into our website, and have a video date right from your home.

Have a moment with someone. Who knows, this one moment could change your life. I thought it was the perfect name for our video dates. Alas, I found out that Tinder had named their new feature ‘moments’ too. Photo blasts to all your matches that expire in 24 hours? Really? Jeez.

Happily though, Tinder has since ditched ‘moments’. I think it makes more sense in the context of Roundhop. But hey, I’m biased.
