What’s Pirate?

At first, what caught our eye was the following statement: Pirate is the most private and secure blockchain to date. We had to dig deeper and based on our research we can say that Pirate went the whole nine yards to secure its blockchain.

Anonymous transactions powered by zk-Snarks
PirateChain enforces users to make private transactions. Pirate uses ZK-Snarks to shield 100% of the peer to peer transactions on the blockchain.

ZK-Snarks stands for “Zero-Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Argument of Knowledge”. In laymen terms, zero-knowledge cryptography enables one to encrypt transaction metadata yet still maintain a secure ledger of balances without disclosing the parties or amounts involved.

First-class protection against double-spend and 51% attacks

Pirate is an independent asset-chain launched on Komodo secured by dPoW (Delayed PoW). Basically, dPoW consists of attaching a backup of the ARRR chain to the Bitcoin blockchain. This is done by inserting a block hash from a block in the Pirate chain into a block on the Bitcoin blockchain.

After the backup is done, every transaction completed before that point is protected with the power of the Bitcoin’s hashrate. In order to perform a successful attack, you would need to overpower the Bitcoin network to destroy the backup before attempting to alter the Pirate chain. This makes security against double spends and hostile takeovers nearly impossible if not impossible altogether.

Setup Guide

To get started, navigate to your dashboard by finding your miners’ IP address using your router or scanner. Your page will look something like this:

Bitmain / Innosilicon Equihash ASICs Pool Setup

You should see the option to mine with a number of different pools. We’re going to set it up with Luxor’s Mining Pool, the best mining pool — disclaimer: we’re slightly biased 😃.

Stratum nodes

Type in the pool setting as follows:

URL: stratum+tcp://arrr.global.luxor.tech:700

Worker: [LuxorUsername or YourPirateAddress].workername (workername can be anything, but avoid using symbols or special characters as it may be invalid). More on user accounts here.

Password: 123

Once you’ve started hashing, grab yourself a beer! It’ll take about 5 minutes for your worker to appear on our stats page. To find your user, simply login and head to the Workers tab. You should see something like this:

To make your life easier, we developed the smartest Mining Bot: Lifeguard. He is available 24/7 and always in a good mood to answer all of your questions and track your miners status and performance.

Happy Hashing!
