Just received your Obelisk SC1 miner? Don’t stress we are here to help you set it up!

Sia, decentralized cloud storage

We are bullish on Sia’s business model and that’s why we at Luxor Mining have dedicated one of our mining pools to supporting the network. In addition, we have been contributing back a percentage of our mining pool fees to the community to help it develop further.

Sia is a decentralized data storage platform powered by blockchain technology. Sia connects people “hosts” that have underutilized hard drive capacity with customers “renters” in search of data storage. In essence, Sia is the Uber of data storage.

The blockchain technology delivers a competitive advantage for Sia, making it more secure and lower cost than traditional cloud storage providers. Sia has created a marketplace for data that provides higher latency, more throughput, less downtime and more security.

Getting ready!

Connect your Obelisk SC1 to the power outlet via the included PSU. Then connect your miner to the internet through a networking cable. You’re now ready to fire up your miner.

In order to setup your miner you need to find its local IP address. There are plenty of ways to do it, the easiest is to download Obelisk’s Scanner. The scanner will identify all of your miners under the same network and enable you to update the firmware.

To receive pool payments you will need a Sia address. You can download and install the latest Sia UI from Sia’s website. Keep in mind that synchronizing the whole Sia blockchain might take a few hours, don’t panic if takes longer than expected.

Setup the Obelisk SC1 and start hashing away!

After you get the Obelisk Scanner running just click the IP address of an Obelisk and a browser to the login page opens automatically.

You should see the option to mine with a number of different pools. We’re going to set it up with Luxor’s Siacoin Mining Pool, the best mining pool — disclaimer: we’re slightly biased 😃

Luxor Mining is a PPS pool with a 2% fee. We believe in Sia and that is why allocate a small portion of fees back to community initiatives. By signing up with Luxor Mining you will be directly supporting the success of Sia.

Okay, that’s enough promoting for one day… lets continue setting up your Obelisk SC1!

Type in the pool setting as follows:

URL: stratum+tcp://sc.global.luxor.tech:700

Worker: [LuxorUsername or YourSiaAddress].workername (workername can be anything, but avoid using symbols or special characters as it may be invalid). More on user accounts here.

Password: 123

Monitoring revenue and machine performance

Once you’ve started hashing, grab yourself a beer! It’ll take about 5 minutes for your worker to appear on our stats page. To find your user, simply head to the Workers tab. You should see something like this:

You can also view details through Sia block explorer.

Enjoy your brand new Obelisk SC1.

Happy Hashing!
