Dear Lympo community,

Wow, we’ve had a pretty active last week! Plenty of things to cover in this Weekly Roundup, so let’s get right into it. 🙌

Last week’s recap

Lympo’s very first Pool athlete 🎱

Pool legend Jeanette Lee joins the Lympo family! Jeanette is one of the biggest international stars in billiards history, formerly ranked #1 in the World and Player of the Year by Billiards Digest and Pool & Billiards Magazine. She was quickly nicknamed “The Black Widow” — despite her sweet demeanor — because she “ate people alive” when she got to a pool table.

“I love the artwork! I am honored to be selected to represent billiards in this exciting new category of collectibles!”

The list of Jeanette’s achievements and career titles is pretty extensive, to say the least, so check it out in our announcement article here.

When Golf meets Lympo ⛳

Lympo welcomes legendary Scottish golfer Carly Booth to the platform! From the youngest ladies’ club champion in Britain at age 11 to becoming the youngest-ever Scot to qualify for the Ladies European Tour at age 17, Carly was a golf prodigy at a very young age. She has played in over 160 tournaments in her 10-year career while being endorsed by world-renowned brands in multi-year sponsorship deals.

“I absolutely love golfing, but I am also conscious of the world around me. That’s one reason why I try to advocate for causes that mean a great deal to me, like mental health and female empowerment. I love the innovative things that the Lympo platform has in store, and am sure that my fans will be excited about the possibilities!”

First Snooker athlete added to the Lympo family 🎱

One of the most well-known snooker players in the world, Shaun Murphy, joins Lympo! As a professional snooker player for over 20 years, he became known for his straight cue action and long potting, which earned him the nickname “The Magician.” A pretty appropriate name, considering he won the 2005 World Championship for which his odds were only 1 to 50.

“I’ve been following the cryptocurrency space for a while, and it’s been interesting to see the rise of NFTs and how the world is embracing blockchain technology. I’m a big fan of Lympo and what they are doing through their athlete partnerships, and couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of it.”

Behind the scenes

As you know, Lympo is part of a huge ecosystem of incredible partners in an industry that’s evolving at warp speed. This requires solid strategic decision-making and highly effective operations. High time to introduce Tadas Maurukas, Lympo’s Chief Strategy Officer, who literally eats, breaths, and lives Lympo.

Who is Tadas Maurukas ?

I was born and raised in Lithuania. From an early age, I was always attracted by situations that require a quick reaction, critical thinking, and adaptation, as well as the magic of numbers. During my high school and my early university days, I sustained myself playing poker semi-professionally. When I was 22 or 23 years old, I created the first marketing agency that allowed me to understand the main business concepts inside out. In late 2017, my business partner and I were offered to do the Lympo ICO, and the rest is history. I started as Lympo’s CMO and shifted my position to Strategy and Operations.

What does your day-to-day look like?

I wake up at 5 am, I work, and I go back to sleep. It is tough to break down my daily operations into monotonous tasks since every day feels like a new and exciting challenge. I’m constantly communicating with many internal and external partners while working on R&D, product, partnerships, new concepts, optimizing operations, and managing different teams.

How were you involved in the early days at Lympo?

As in many start-ups, my role was not specifically defined. Instead, I tried to fill in the gaps, optimize our internal processes and solve problems as they arise.

How has your role changed after the Animoca Brands acquisition?

With the acquisition of Animoca Brands came a significant organizational restructuring. It was an opportunity to rebuild the whole team from scratch and set up the workflow accordingly.

My role got more apparent as the whole process pointed us in the right direction. It shifted more toward a thinking-leading approach instead of strictly executing.

What makes you jump out of bed in the morning about Lympo?

This is a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The massive potential of the newly emerging blockchain ecosystem is unimaginable. We are laying the foundations for something extraordinary. To me, blockchain, gaming, and sports are THE perfect combination to attract massive audiences and create a new worldwide standard.

What do you find the most rewarding in your role?

Every aspect of the current situation is rewarding: the team, the community, new contacts, personal growth, the remarkable mentors from Animoca Brands. I feel truly blessed to be in this situation.

What do you find the most challenging in your role?

The unpredictability. And I absolutely love it!

What you proud the most about Lympo?

The team. They are the warriors that put up more hours than asked, they are the ones that believed and joined us even though the situation was very unclear, and they’re the ones that give before they ask.

Looking back on your time at Lympo, what would you say were your biggest learnings so far, and how has that impacted your growth as a person?

Blind passion blinds everyone around. It is good to be passionate about what you do, but critical thinking beats everything.

If you could dream about a particular athlete that you would love to get onto the platform with their NFT, who would it be?

Definitely Cristiano Ronaldo and Michael Jordan.

What do you do outside of Lympo when you’re not thinking about work?

I like strategy games, chess, poker, and exciting conversations with intelligent people.

Looking ahead

As some already know, we are looking forward to hosting Lympo auctions on the Binance NFT marketplace as we bring to market NFTs that are not only unique and valuable but also will have special utilities like staking functionality in Lympo “play-to-earn” model.

New Athletes, new NFTs, new NFTs minting pools and exciting partnerships await us, stay tuned!
