Dear Lympo community,

Amid a turbulent cryptocurrency market, we’re closing in on the start of the summer. It won’t be long now before you start seeing the amazing Lympo developments — which happened behind the scenes during the last month — come to life. 😉 But first, let’s look back at last week and introduce yet another important Lympo team member.

Last week’s recap

Athlete Announcement

Top Tier Padel Player Lucía Sainz Pelegri joins Lympo! Lucía is a Spanish professional padel player and former professional tennis player, who was once gracefully awarded the Dona y Esport award as Barcelona’s best athlete.

“I’ve always been fascinated with innovation, so this partnership with Lympo made complete sense. I’m interested in seeing the sports collectible tradition evolve with blockchain technology, and couldn’t be more excited to be a part of it!”

From winning 6 doubles titles during the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour to ranking #1 in the world for padel in 2020, Lucía can clearly be considered a formidable athlete and a fantastic addition to the Lympo family.

Behind the scenes

Remember Vilius Jastremskas, Lympo’s Chief Partnership Officer? He was the first person we’ve put in the spotlight in one of our previous Weekly Roundup articles. But Vilius isn’t the only person conducting business development at Lympo. Today, we’ll turn our attention towards Lympo’s Partnership Manager Matt Jalincas, who’s working very closely with Vilius to get all these amazing partners on board.

Who is Matt Jalincas?

Just like many other Lympo team members, I grew up in Vilnius, Lithuania. I actually started working pretty early on — at the age of 18 — , initially in a global sales team within the gas & energy industry. I’ve then traveled and lived in the Canary Islands for a few years, while working in a PR role for various hotel chains. After that, I shifted towards sales positions in the IT sector, because I felt like I was becoming really interested in technology. Fast forward to today, I’m now I’m living in Maribor, Slovenia, while proudly working at Lympo where I’d like to describe my role as Partnerships & Athlete Relations.

When and why did you join the Lympo team?

I joined the Lympo team around the beginning of February this year. If I’m honest, this was such a new industry for me that I felt unsure of what I got myself into during the first month at Lympo. But the fact that the blockchain space presented a completely new horizon compared to the industries I’ve worked in previously, got me extremely excited. I’m really eager to learn new things, and I literally fell in love with the possibilities Lympo can achieve, especially with such a great team. And knowing that this industry is still so young, it’s going to evolve so quickly and stay so interesting for many years to come. I’ll always remember the day when Tadas Maurukas — one of Lympo’s co-founders — offered to join the team as one of my happiest days in a very long time.

What does your day-to-day as a Business Developer / Partnership Manager at Lympo look like?

I feel like my day-to-day is usually pretty unpredictable. That’s because the majority of my time is spent on communicating back and forth with our existing partners and athletes to make sure that we’re progressing effectively and our partnership agreements are running smoothly. At the same time, we’re constantly discovering and evaluating new opportunities. I have to say, Vilius is a fantastic colleague and a great friend, from whom I’m learning a lot every day. It’s pretty cool to work on these various athletes and partner deals with him, as well as the rest of the team of course.

What makes you jump out of bed in the morning with regards to Lympo?

The thing that makes me wake up every morning is the fact that I am going to meet new people from different countries, businesses and sports categories. I always wanted to be an athlete myself, which is why it’s such a pleasure to be a part of this journey and contribute to the future of athlete engagement. It’s pretty awesome to be able to witness the impact of NFTs — and the gamification thereof — on the sports and gaming industries from close by.

What’s the most challenging aspect of your role at Lympo?

Every job comes with challenges, which is what makes it interesting of course. For me, the most challenging part of my job is to make sure that the athletes we’re working with understand the value and the potential of this new technology. As it’s such a nascent industry, it’s important to spend enough time educating (potential) athletes and other partners on what the Lympo ecosystem could mean for them. It’s so easy to lose sight of the bigger picture, so a good chunk of my effort goes towards zooming out and keeping our partners happy and engaged.

What’s your proudest accomplishment so far, with regard to Lympo?

It’s so hard to choose one specific accomplishment. Every accomplishment, every partnership, every new relationship is a unique experience, so I’d say that I’m most proud of the massive amount of partnerships we’ve secured so far in such a short timeframe. And you’ve probably already heard that the best is yet to come, so all I can do is confirm that. 😉

If you look at the future, what is it that you’re most excited about?

There is so much to be excited about, but I am especially excited about the gamification aspect of our NFTs. The fact that our users will be able to use their NFTs in many different ways instead of just holding them as a collectible is just phenomenal. It’s really the game utility and the opportunities it presents for fan engagement that blow me away.

Who’s NFT do you dream of to get onto the Lympo platform?

For me, that would definitely be Derrick Rose, the New York Knicks Point guard.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

In my spare time, I mainly practice kickboxing and work on my fitness. But I also enjoy gaming and watching action movies. I can’t wait to spend my spare time playing games where I can utilize Lympo NFTs! 😁
