This week, in celebration of International Women’s Day that falls on March 8, we are highlighting Meesho superstars who are all girl bosses in their own right. Stay tuned to see the women who have shaped the course of Meesho’s journey with their hard work and determination.

If you are one to take full ownership of the work that you do, and take pride in ensuring that every aspect of your endeavours is completed with the utmost quality, Meesho is the place for you. Take for instance our Employee of the Week, Chaitali Singh’s story. She joined Meesho as a graphic designer in the Marketing team in May, 2019, and in the year that she has worked at Meesho, she has donned many hats including writer and actor — all in the name of taking ownership of all her projects. After all, Take Ownership is a core Meesho value and Chaitali is a perfect example of a Meeshoite who imbibes this value strongly.

“Throughout my career, I have only worked as a graphic designer,” says Chaitali, adding, “but here at Meesho, I have gotten the opportunity to explore many diverse roles. At Meesho, I love to take ownership of any project handed to me. From a creative point of view, I have always wanted to think big and out of the box and Meesho provides me the platform to do that. Moreover, my team is very supportive and encouraging.”

Ab Meesho Hai — for Meeshoites and Resellers

Chaitali works within the Marketing team of the Growth Org. as a graphic designer, which means she is individually accountable for making everything look aesthetically appealing as well as user friendly, while her larger role as a member of her team is to directly impact the resellers with her creative work. From ideating campaigns to executing them and ensuring that these campaigns directly translate to rise in quality resellers, she plays a very important role at Meesho.

“Last year, from July to October we made a live video to acquire resellers, and this year we are working on two major campaigns #AbMeeshoHai, wherein we showcase successful resellers and their stories to inspire other women to start their own business with Meesho, and #IndiaKaBusiness. So the focus is on brand awareness, referral and acquiring and activation of women resellers,” gushes Chaitali about her work.

“When we were working on the Naye Zamaane Ka Business campaign, I worked on it from scratch. From planning to ideation and arranging actors and props till implementation, I have ensured that creatives are all completed on time. In a pod system like the one we worked on last year, it is imperative that every individual takes that ownership and meets their respective deadline,” she says.

Within the Meesho pod structure, the bigger marketing team is divided into four teams all of which has a Graphic Designer, a Video Editor, and a Marketing Associate. “This structure allows you to be a part of the whole process, no matter what your individual trade is. And, thanks to the pods I have been able to take part in every stage of every project I have been part of, beyond my primary responsibilities that come with being a graphic designer.”

It comes as no surprise that Chaitali embodies the core values of Take Ownership and Company > Team > Individual in her day-to-day work life. With a dash of creativity and a sprinkle of team work Chaitali translates her passion to try something new into solutions for Meesho’s marketing problems.

Chaitali is grateful to be part of a team that encourages taking risks and experimenting.

Always up for a challenge

Meesho allows her to take risks and experiment as well. “Sometimes we succeed, sometimes we fail but team encouragement is constant,” she says, adding how all the challenges she took on at Meesho has helped her realise her talent for storytelling as well. As part of some marketing campaigns, this National Institute of Fashion Technology, Raebareli, graduate helped make videos and star in them as well.

She relates, “That was my very first attempt at acting and I was so nervous. But truth be told, the whole experience was extremely fun.” Chaitali is also our in-house talent scout. She can be often seen walking around the Meesho floors, convincing Meeshoites to give acting a shot.

Basically, Chaitali, along with her team, does everything from brainstorming ideas to the final implementation in-house. “I love our brainstorming sessions and even the research work for each project. But most importantly, I value the freedom I have to explore in areas of design and ideation.”

It comes as no surprise to us that this graphic designer from Varanasi who also happens to be a painter and a trained Bharatanatyam dancer has a penchant for all things creative, considering her father is a story writer and her mother is a drawing teacher in a primary school. Moreover, Chaitali also has a tonne of experience in various fields of designing, having learned leather designing at NIFT, worked on packaging designing with Jockey, and so on. She was also a graphic designer with Deviee Fitness Pvt. Ltd for a while, but it was the desire to explore further creatively that led her to Meesho.

A trained Bharatanatyam dancer, Chaitali has also acted in some of Meesho’s marketing videos.

Helping women help other women

She adds how the value of her work becomes manifold to her when she takes into account that it directly impacts the lives of lakhs of resellers across India. She says, “While attending our offline Mission Rise Women Entrepreneur Summits it becomes further evident how important our work is. I am contributing to a cause that helps women who want to be independent be so and it feels so great.”

Chaitali attended her first Mission Rise at Bengaluru in January this year, which also happens to be our biggest one yet. She says of her experience, “While I was at the Bengaluru Mission Rise, I got to hear the stories of many resellers. The story of one reseller, named Kachana, stands out. She has tried working as a food delivery partner and a driver for hire, but now, she is earning well with Meesho and is able to support her daughter well.”

“The fact that we are able to not only help women like her achieve her dreams, but also collaborate with her to inspire other women to pursue their dreams gives me so much joy,” relates Chaitali.
