Meta Gamma Delta 2020 Recap
Meta Gamma Delta was born out of the desire to create a community of humans who could come together from all around the world and make an impact in the blockchain ecosystem in which we all live and thrive.
While I’m sure we are collectively grateful that 2020 is over, we’d like to take a moment and highlight all of the wonderful things that we accomplished this year.
The Beginning
Meta Gamma Delta “MGD” was summoned as a DAO at ETH Denver on February 14th, 2020. What started as a fun virtual sorority has grown into a global movement of women who provide mentorship, resources, and grants for those who want to build great things. And yes, we are still fun!
- From 3 to 51 pledged members by the end of the year
- The launch of our website
- Our Women Defi-ying the Defi Space submission to the Dragon Quest Virtual Hackathon
- 4 public events including a Personal Privacy & Online Security Hangout and a Personal Financial Management discussion.
- Migration from v1 to v2 MolochDAO
- Weekly DAO calls
- Internal presentations by members about projects they are working on or protocols they are using
- ~37,000 DAI raised for our first MGD Grant Round
- Started joint calls with MetaCartel DAO
MGD Grants Program
We are proud to say that within our first year, we launched a grants round program and awarded three women-led projects:
- The Defiant, a Defi-focused media platform
- GoodGhosting, a gamified savings app
- DADA, a collaborative art platform
The Future
On our last call of the year, each member brought an image that showed their goals for the future of the DAO. The collage below depicts this collaboration. Some images were funny, others serious, and others sassy…yet all called for the same mission…support more women-powered initiatives in Web3 and work towards this greater good!
