Imagine being able to teleport in VR to Disneyland between meetings and interact with people and things physically there while they interact with you in AR! XRPA.NET is bringing this experience to life through several technology advancements listed below.

The AR Cloud has been talked about for many years. The purpose of the AR Cloud is to persistently pin augmented reality (AR) digital content to geo-coordinates (latitudes and longitudes). As virtual reality (VR) metaverses target real world digital twins instead of fictitious virtual worlds, they will rely on the same AR Cloud to persist digital content in both AR and VR (XR — extended reality). The XR Cloud connects digital content in both AR and VR instances of the real world. Here’s a peak at our XR Cloud REST API.

XR Browsers provide views into both the augmented and virtual reality instances of the real world metaverse. When on an AR capable device (mobile, tablet, glasses), you will see a map consisting of AR spatial anchors and other VR users exploring the digital twin of the real world near you. As you zoom into reality, the map turns into an AR camera view of the spatial anchors nearby. When on a VR capable device (PC, Oculus, Vive), you can teleport to any address, landmark, or geo-coordinate and see spatial anchors pinned to nearby geo-coordinates as well as AR users exploring the real world near your teleported coordinates.

The magical experience between AR user and VR user encounters is called co-presence. Whether you are physically present at a place or teleported to a place, both users can communicate with each other while interacting with the spatial anchors pinned to nearby geo-coordinates. Remember the Jedi Council meeting?!

Underneath the XR Cloud and XR Browser is a very sophisticated spatial messaging platform powered by a resilient IoT vicinity messaging system. IoT devices consistently chirp sensor readings from locations. People can send location-aware messages (text, photos, videos, and spatial anchors). Everyone and everything can adjust their listening radius and filter messages by type and tag to interact over a common spatial messaging protocol. Learn more.

XRPA.NET is an XR-based real world metaverse platform with an XR Cloud and an XR Browser connected by a spatial messaging system.

Since XRPA.NET was designed around geo locations and open street maps, its use cases are predominantly based outdoors. To accommodate indoor functionality, we have developed a complimentary metaverse-as-a-service technology platform called Metaverses.io. Since both technologies are based on WebXR and run across devices in Web browsers, we are envisioning that a user could start in XRPANET outdoors and walk into a building simply by the browser redirecting the link to the appropriate Metaverses.io space and visa versa.
