I’ve written about the stellar editing at Middle-Pause before, so I’m going to dive right into the trims and bevels Cindy Heath made to my story about party games. For those who want the bare bones, read the subheads. You could also look at the self-editing tips Cindy gives you in her story.

Medium hates embedded Instagram links. Change them to hyperlinks.

I had three Instagram videos embedded in my story. They had relevance to the story but here’s what Cindy had to say:

For practicality, I love having the Instagram videos right in the story. For Medium’s requirements, I think they’d prefer the Title of the video with just a hyperlink.

The pretty link photo breaks up the ‘flow’ too much.

I’d suggest making it ‘Medium-friendly’.

US/India have cultural differences — don’t assume your reader knows why without explaining.
