It’s time to get mighty with Mighty Action Heroes, because the doors to Mighty Hero HQ are open as of today! Mighty Action Heroes is a brand new real-time multiplayer third-person battle royale where all the action figurines you’ve ever dreamed of owning will come to life and duke it out in glorious, explosion-filled battle.

Developed by Mighty Bear Games, the game will launch in early access later in the year. As a studio, we’ve always dreamed of making a game with an action hero theme, particularly from the 80s and 90s, and we’re finally doing it. We’re also finally able to do it right. Here’s what’s going to happen at Mighty Hero HQ in the near future.

Building for the right reasons

An early preview of what Mighty Action Heroes will look like. The game is still in active development and is subject to change.

There are a few things we decided on when we started developing Mighty Action Heroes. We have always loved the theme and real-time multiplayer games, so the action hero focus and battle royale genre were a given from the start. Not to mention that action heroes are a universal language. Is there really anyone out there who doesn’t enjoy a good explosion, or a fight scene or two?

We’re extremely excited about web3 and believe this is the next evolution of gaming. Similar to how free-to-play and microtransactions have shaped video games, we’re a team of game industry veterans who see the growth of web3 as an equally momentous and iconic shift. But we also noticed that a lot of the web3 games we’ve played feel like… work. Grinding is not fun, not to mention it’s also really difficult to get into playing a game when, as a new player, you can barely figure out how to sign up.

Building with the right team

Here are some of the talented folk working on bringing Mighty Action Heroes to life.

Mighty Bear is a young studio. We’ve been around for about 4 years. In that time we’ve developed 5 games — notably Disney Melee Mania, an official Disney & Pixar game, and Butter Royale, a huge hit on Apple Arcade. Our specialty is in taking core genres and breaking them down so that they’re still challenging, but more accessible to a wider audience.

We’ve been able to do that by hiring the right team. This is just a fraction of the folk developing Mighty Action Heroes, but they’ve got a lot of experience under their belt. Our team members come from companies like King, Ubisoft, Disney, Gameloft, and more.

Some of the previous studios the team has cut their teeth at.

Then we’ve got the wider team: the ones who believed in the project from inception, and who have invested in it. Web3 is all about the community, that’s true, but that goes across all levels, including behind the scenes. We’re very excited to have laid such a strong groundwork of web3 veterans to start building our community upon.

Some of the fine folk on our cap table.

These are the people who will help take Mighty Action Heroes from good, to great. We are aiming to build a game that will continue being fun to play for years, but strong ecosystem design takes a lot of experience. All the great minds you see listed above will contribute to that in various ways, whether by being active members of the DAO, providing proprietary tech, or even playtesting.

Building the right way

It’s probably obvious by now how much thought and care needs to go into building a lasting game. We have many, many milestones to hit and share with you, but the first one is to give would-be players early access to Mighty Action Heroes. A lot of us will be familiar with locking PFPs for rewards–this game makes no exceptions.

Coming really soon will be our genesis PFP collection — name soon to be revealed! Hot on the heels of that will be your actual ability to lock the PFP for tangible in-game rewards. Why so soon? Because we’re aiming to launch early access before the end of this year, and we want our OGs — the esteemed First Division on Discord — to get a running headstart on Mighty Action Heroes. It’s still very early, but here’s a sneak peek at the kind of items you’re going to be able to earn.

And yes, you won’t need to buy in upfront to start playing, but it’ll help if you started with an on-chain hero or two ;) You can get some initial info from our litepaper, but keep up with our Twitter and Discord to learn exactly how!
