“Start again.”

I woke up after sleeping for about four hours and felt well-rested. I showered and brushed my teeth, then immediately sat outside and practiced. I was pleasantly surprised at how similar the experience was. Time flowed by quickly, and my thoughts remained quiet despite the relative chaos of the city.

I continued to write these words you’re reading right now. I was already thousands of words in but not quite close to being done. The afternoon blew by quickly.

I went to the gym for the first time in three weeks, and then went to link up with Shaun at his place. We worked on his music, and finalizing it for pressing to vinyl, for a few hours.

In between, we stopped in at a Vietnamese restaurant.

Again — chaos.

I couldn’t focus on more than one thing at once. It took me about fifteen minutes to order, since I had to focus on either speaking with Shaun and Mei or perusing the menu. I had a bowl of peanut seafood pho and it was one of the most amazing things I’d ever eaten.

When I got home, I did my evening sit in the dark, maintaining the continuity of practice. I was determined to sit again the morning after, and slept soundly.

And just like that, I was back in the real world.

Stay tuned for a proper debriefing of what I learned.

Thanks for reading.
