Relationships are one of the most symbolic aspects of your physical experience. No matter how brief, every person you encounter helps you define your personal preferences and contributes to your expansion. You could not be who you are without interaction with others.

Even more important than your relationship with others is the relationship between you and your Source/Soul/God from which you have come. If you tend to this primary relationship first, then all your other relationships — not only with people, but also with your body, money, the government — will fall easily into alignment.

Others are your co-creators and your experiences with them is the basis of the expansion you achieve. They contribute to your greatest joys and your greatest sorrows. Through these contrasting experiences you identify what you do and do not want in your life. There are various choices available, not only regarding lifestyles, but also regarding attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, personality characteristics, moods, emotional responses, reactions to situations… you have an abundance of options to choose from as you expand on who you are.

In the same way that you can choose the things you want to experience, you can also choose the characteristics of the people you interact with as well. When you practice looking for and finding characteristics that appeal to you, and focusing your attention on those aspects, you will attract better experiences to yourself from others.

On the other hand, when you allow yourself to give attention to the bad-feeling aspects of another person, this will become the dominant vibrational basis of your relationship. When you focus on the negative aspects, it only perpetuates more negative. When others are angry at you, in action or with words, understand that their battle is with themselves, not with you. They are simply disconnected from their source, and if you do not take their behavior personally, over time they’ll leave you out of it.

Every person is responsible for their own happiness. Suppose you’re constantly trying to please others, and encourage them to believe their happiness depends on your behavior. In that case, you will become weary of attempting the impossible and eventually lose your own sense of freedom.

When you came into your physical body, you were aware of the immense value of interacting with the variety of beliefs, desires and intentions of others for the purpose of expansion. It was your plan to sift through the variety of topics with the understanding that your exposure, to all subjects, would prompt you to conclusions of improvement.
