Do you wake in the middle of the night, wondering…why you’re so unhappy? Here are 8 signs you may be unhappy with your life:

  1. You aren’t sure what to do with your time. When we are flowing and connected to purpose, we always have an abundance of energy and ideas for what we want to take on next. A dearth of ideas could mean you aren’t happy with what you are doing and need to switch things up a bit.
  2. You binge TV and movies- binging can happen for a variety of reasons- from a habitual resistance to unstructured boredom, to a deep core wound of loneliness, or self disrespect that haunts the binger day in and day out. Whichever the case, repeatedly binging, especially if you are tuning out or not even appreciating the movie or show is a sign of a lack of purpose and passion in one’s life.
  3. Your pro-social personality suddenly becomes anti-social or neutrally social. Were you once a social butterfly, or at least the initiator in social arrangements? A sudden withdrawal from social contact could be a sign that you are withdrawing from life, and not happy with your circumstances.
  4. You feel a dull ache where your heart and emotions used to live- feeling disconnected from our emotions and purpose can take a variety of forms. Some people go into fight or flight when their life isn’t going the way they hope or want it to. Feeling disconnected from feelings is a big sign that you are not flowing with your purpose.
  5. Your earning power is stuck- this one is a bit controversial for me to write. I don’t believe we should mark our progress in life by how much money we make, however when things are stalled financially- it could be another sign we are not living in our joy.
  6. You feel you have lost the “vision” for your life. Having a vision for your life is very important. Without a vision, we often perish and fall victim to low ideas and low energies-redefining our purpose, and taking actions that contribute to our well-being and thus purpose will help us get back on track.
  7. You keep reaching for more unhealthy habits-this is a tough one for a lot of people. As they lose track of their purpose, vision, and joy they begin to try to substitute with activities that may even send them further into muddled territory. People sometimes overdraw their bank accounts at this point trying to figure out what will improve their mood or situation.
  8. You suddenl- Some may go into self-protection mode, and start resisting change, solutions, and advice.

Does all this sound like you or someone you know? The good news is we all have a distinct purpose on this planet and restoring your vision for yourself and your life can quickly help you overcome the ennui and lack of motivation that can accompany this state of being.

Never lose hope that you can make a difference in this world. Every smile, every balanced person, every brave person or creative mark brings us one step closer to a happier more evolved world.
