The art of mobile development fascinates us! And we would love to help more people learn it.
Therefore, we have created a small list of tutorials/guides that can help you kick-start your development journey!

Note: You don’t need to have any previous knowledge, just following this guide would be enough.

Resources:

  • Git
One of the essential prerequisites for any software development is version control. And what better than git?
  1. Atlassian’s Git Guide
Do you find reading long articles boring? We do too! Here’s a video tutorial.
  2. Git and Github for Poets
  • Android Basics

How about a video tutorial that makes you develop an application from scratch?

  1. Udacity’s tutorial on User Input
Also, here are some videos on working with activities in an android application.
  2. How to make a button open up a new activity
  3. Working with multiple activities
  4. Passing data between activities
  • Back-end

Implementing self-made back-end services might be difficult for a beginner. Firebase by Google provides us with all these services along with easy to use APIs. Be it Database or Cloud Messaging, and Firebase has it all.

  1. Firebase Documentation
  2. Tutorial for Implementing Firebase in your App

We also face the need to make calls to APIs for information retrieval. You might use the Retrofit library for this purpose.

  • Application Architecture

We follow specific practices when developing an app to build production-quality and maintainable apps. These practices are recommended by Google.

  1. Guide to App Architecture
  2. MVVM Demonstration
  3. ViewModels and LiveData
  4. Fragments

These resources might be difficult to apprehend at first, but it will be straightforward and useful with eventual progress.

  • Material Design

Implementing Material Design on your app is a great way to improve the UI and UX. Material components can make the application look beautiful and enhance the user experience.

  1. Material for Android

You might want to follow these tutorials in the order they are stated, as the application would be functional without the architecture and material components.
Although these resources would be sufficient to get you started in the development world, app-specific resources could be obtained here.

Disclaimer:

These resources are just the opinions of the members at Mobile Development Group, and you may follow any other resource to learn.

Time to Start!

P.S- You may simply respond to this post to clarify any doubts.

Thank You!
