The other week I went on a second date with Ludo. It went well. After we shared our first kiss, I rode home through the night with a smile plastered across my face.

But the evening didn’t end there.

I had to tell my partner of one year, Flo, with whom I’m in an open relationship, how my date went. But I didn’t know what I would say. How do you tell the person you love you had a great time with another man?

Be honest.

I was in a great mood after my date, excited for what might happen next between Ludo and me.

And I knew Flo deserved to know that. He deserved the truth. The whole truth. And nothing but the truth. Even if it might hurt him.

Because in the long run, trying to keep my feelings from him would be futile. That’s how feelings work. You can try to hide them but eventually, they expose themselves somehow, someway.

For example, if I told him the date was “just okay” and then later I went on another date with Ludo or generally started spending more time with him and texting him a lot, then Flo would see that I may have more feelings than I…
