I Just Made It To 99 Followers and I Am Super Excited

As a new writer on Medium from Nigeria, I’m not eligible for the Medium Partner Program.
When I found out about this I had mixed feelings.
My Medium adventure began serendipitously. On my first day here I wasn’t so sure about what I wanted to achieve. But it certainly was not remuneration — I was oblivious to the possibility at the time.
I was excited when I discovered the option of a possible remuneration. “Fantastic!” I thought.
However, when I found out I was not eligible for the Medium Partner Program I simply shrugged.
After just one article in 2020, I took a year-long break. When I returned, my strategy was simple — just write.
I was only interested in putting out content with the hope of finding a niche where my thoughts mattered, with people that would relate to my thoughts.
I have since grown from less than 10 followers to whopping 99 followers.
That is massive for me.
I have had some wonderful engagements on my articles, and that for me matters more than remuneration. Don’t get me wrong — I still wish to be eligible.
But then, it is what it is. However, I’m hell-bent on focusing only on the good, and on what I can control.
Focus only on what you can control. Leave what you can’t.
Just like me, if you look for the good you will always find it.
