Making a Truss Rod Adjustment

If you have been playing guitar for a while, it’s possible that you may have noticed your instrument slowly but surely lose its playability, tuning on different frets, and fret buzz around the neck.

A good reason why this might be happening is due to your instruments' truss rod going out of alignment which can affect the entire instrument and your playing ability. Before we begin, it’s important that if at any time you feel as though you are not doing something right that you have your truss rod looked at and adjusted by a professional, otherwise you could break your guitar’s neck which will never play how it should again.

What is A Truss Rod?

When some of the first modern guitars we first being designed, it was noticed that the neck of the instrument would bend one way or another instead of sitting straight due to the tension of the strings. Some small little flimsy guitar strings might not seem like they can put on much tension but in reality, a set of light gauge strings can exert around 200 pounds of tension on the neck!
