For many years now, I’ve admired U.S. Representative Tim Ryan (of Ohio’s 13th Congressional District) due to his passion about food sustainability. It’s why he was near the top of my list of 2020 presidential candidates (and why he would have been a great vice-presidential selection if a woman had won the Democratic nomination).

As most of you politically-savvy folks know, Congressman Ryan is running for Ohio’s open U.S. Senate seat this November against businessman J.D. Vance. In trying to elevate himself to higher office, Ryan does something that so few Democratic candidates seem to know how to do…

He links agriculture and food policy to Americans’ grocery bills and personal health.

The genesis for Ryan’s crusade was illustrated by his 2014 book, The Real Food Revolution: Healthy Eating, Green Groceries, and the Return of the American Family Farm.

I’d previously written a book review of The Real Food Revolution. So I’ve excerpted some of its passages that most resonated with me, as an #AgriWarrior for agricultural prosperity and food sustainability.
