With the FIFA World Cup inching closer and closer, we bet you’re biting your nails thinking about how to come up with the best fantasy lineup. We are here to help you again. This time, we will help you choose the best goalkeeper for your team.

If you want to look for defenders for your line up, check out this article we wrote: Fantasy FIFA World Cup: Top Defenders to Have an Eye On 🔥

An ideal goalkeeper would have super quick reflexes, would cover all the easy and hard angles, has the capability to read opponent’s mind, and is fully aware of the game at all times.

When choosing between different goalkeepers for your fantasy football lineup, a lot of factors have to be taken into account to end up with the best goalkeeper:

  1. Penalty saves
  2. Shots saves
  3. Clean sheets

Below is the list of Top 5 goalkeepers:

#5: Thibaut Courtois (Belgium)

Thibaut Courtois did not showcase a good performance this year at the English Premier League. He made only 1.80 average saves per game and conceded 34 goals for super defensive Chelsea but he magically concedes few goals for the national squad; only 8 during the World Cup qualification. If you like Belgium and Thibaut you can make him the part of your team, he won’t let you down.

#4: Hugo Lloris (France)

The first goalkeeper of the French national squad, he conceded only 6 goals at the 2018 World Cup qualification. Hugo Lloris is not the best goalkeeper of all the times, but he has the talented team and plays reliably when it is necessary. Spurs is not the best defensive team but Lloris had 14 total clean sheets, 0.96 average goals conceded and 2.10 average saves per game.

#3: Manuel Neuer/Marc-Andre Ter Stegen

There is still an air of confusion between the two players. Only German coaches know who will play the World Cup, but it seems that Manuel Neuer is the most preferable option for the national squad. If Neuer is ready he always plays. Manuel was injured all the year, but still took part at the three qualification games in which he didn’t concede even a single goal.

Andre Ter Stegen had good performance this year with Barcelona. He had total 19 clean sheets, 0.76 average goals conceded and 2.40 average saves per game.

We can only guess who will be the main German goalkeeper at the World Cup, but both these players are worthy to be part of your team.

#2: Alisson Becker (Brazil)

Alisson Becker came across as a surprise for many football fans this year. As a result, now many top Europe clubs seek to get Alisson. At the World Cup qualification he conceded only 8 goals per 16 matches, it is an amazing result for the Brazil squad well-known for its very attacking style. Brazil is a favorite of the World Cup 2018 and Alison will be the one of the most important part of the national squad along with Neymar. If this time Brazil won’t concede 7 goals from Germany, Alison will have all chances to become the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

#1: David de Gea (Spain)

This year Manchester United took the second place in the English Premier League all credit goes to David de Gea. He had 18 total clean sheets, 0.75 average goals conceded and 2.58 averages saves per game. Even though Manchester United does not have the best defense line, but with Spanish defenders like Ramos and Pique, De Gea can become the best goalkeeper of the World.

While choosing the player for your fantasy team, keep in mind that the players which will play maximum number of games will get you maximum points. So choosing a player which will continue to play towards closing stage of the tournament would be the best.

We believe this list would certainly help you choose the best goalie for your fantasy dream team. The industry of Fantasy Sports is all set to multiply during the FIFA season. It’s a great opportunity for you as well, and to make most out of it: Start Playing Now!
