This is a movement powered by you, built by us.

As many of you know, we recently made a move into the international money transfer space starting with sending money from the UK to Kenya and Uganda.

Demand for a NALA account has been high, we’re in private beta and trying to scale responsibly. You can sign up for the early access list here for iOS or Android.

So far we have built an amazing community of hundreds of East Africans in the UK who have really helped us build our product by providing feedback.

Today, we are super excited to unveil our product roadmap to the public:

NALA’s product roadmap is a freely accessible board where our community can see what we have released recently (to private beta/early access for now), what we are currently working on, and what is coming next.

More importantly, our community can suggest things they most urgently want to see implemented.

Why are we publishing the NALA Product Roadmap to the public? đź‘€

Community comes first 🥂

For us, this is one of the core values as a company and what we stand for. As we were thinking about how to release our product, as a team we thought it would be important to be as close to our users as possible, because of this, I personally onboarded our first 100 early access users via Zoom.

The community we serve is at the heart of every decision we make and anything we build. As the community shares their pain points and frustrations when they send money to their loved ones, they also have the right to know which one of their problems we are currently working to solve or have already solved. One of the ways to make this happen is to openly share our roadmap publicly.

Keeping ourselves accountable and transparent 🔍

Publishing the roadmap to the public creates an ongoing commitment to solving problems that matter to our community most. It holds us accountable and encourages us to be more deliberate about what we build, hence building the money transfer service that our community loves to use.

What has been included in the roadmap?

We don’t show everything on the roadmap as we work on tons of smaller items and larger projects (i.e. compliance, licensing, and paperwork when we are launching a new market, etc.) behind the scenes.

One possible disadvantage is that everything is out there for our competitors to see, but we don’t really see it as a problem — certainly not a big enough problem to outweigh the positive aspects. As a team, we know and confidently believe that what sets us apart is not the number of good ideas we can keep to ourselves, but rather what we can make out of a good idea. It’s about the execution.

Our goal is to keep the roadmap simple and clean for everyone to understand while showing what is currently happening at NALA.

What’s next? 🚀

By popular request, we are launching our in-app waitlist soon which means you will be able to download NALA from the App Store or Playstore and sign up for the waitlist there!

Once you’ve signed up, we will notify you as soon as we’ve granted you access ❤️

I’m so excited for us to support a global community who are rewriting the narrative around Africa’s future, through NALA. You inspire us daily, and we can’t wait for us to build something amazing as one.
