[2023] A Year In Review
Navigators, as we welcome another year to our project, we extend gratitude to all members who foster and support our community. Wishing blessings even to the critics and naysayers ;) It is only as a collective can we thrive, learn from each other and further our mission. So let’s delve into this year’s last update.
December
Our devs are currently addressing an issue with the Block explorer. It’s important to note that, during this process, the display may show outdated blocks, and some transactions might be temporarily missing. As soon as the reindexing of the explorer is complete, it will be fully functional again. Most likely within the next few days.
With the successful integration of the Transaction Factory into the new core, we’ve reached a significant milestone. The team has now been able to initiate the implementation of the PePoS protocol, the last step before the testnet launch. We’re making 2024 more private than ever.
And so, let’s look back at all the achievements of 2023.
This year was marked by a whirlwind of headlines about CEXs rushing to delist privacy coins. One can argue that it’s been more clear than ever, that these big institutions would rather cooperate with regulators against the principles of crypto, rather than stand up for the interests of their users. Disappointing but nor surprising.
As a response, we made it a priority to state our case about the importance of privacy coins in face of such censorship and decided to pivot towards strengthening all future DEX collaborations.
To see privacy adoption grow, applications on private blockchains must be built. In line with this vision, the Priverse Marketplace, developed by our community member sakdeniz, underwent a drastic transformation. Besides the changes in design and functionality, the marketplace has also established a presence on Twitter.
Throughout the year, we’ve engaged our community with quizzes, riddles and marketing campaigns. Some classics include the Does Time Really Exist riddle, the Is Navcoin Right For You quiz and the Komodo Platform Twitter campaign. We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who engaged and participated.
The transition to a Privacy-Enhanced Proof of Stake blockchain has been the focus for our devs. The highlights of this transition are: Staked Amount Obfuscation, Staker Privacy and Coin Unlinkability. Along with that, we started a discussion about a potential rebrand for Navcoin. After compiling all the imput, here is what we have collectively decided on. We’re looking forward to seeing it all put into action and we are happy to be a project that doubles down on it’s commitment to anonymity in the face of such a tumultuous year.
By now The Private Finance Syndicate should be a well known name to you all. Co-founded by Navcoin and LunarDAO, it’s been a unifying force in the privacy space. We saw it not only welcome new members this year, but also grow it’s audience and scope. After such a strong reception, more educational and awareness-raising events are planned for the coming months. To catch up on all the lore, check out the PFS Substack.

What We Look Forward To In 2024
Besides continuing on this current path, we look forward to harvesting the fruit of our labor of the past twelve months. We’ll leave you with this..
Where information rules, privacy becomes a weapon, a weapon to empower and a weapon to disarm. In our project, we see a means to wrest control of something that is already yours by right — your freedom — by shielding you from the unblinking eye of digital surveillance and simultaneously providing a robust network for digital transactions. As the world of crypto has continued to grow, it has increasingly morphed into an extension of financial hegemony, largely disregarding anonymity and the easily tracked nature of public transactions. Despite this, we are holding fast to a vision of a better future, by refining our mandatory-privacy network, with truly anonymous staking and participation, irrespective of platform, here and now.
