Happy June! May was a busy month, with New York Blockchain Week and the launch of our CKB testnet, Rylai, back to back. Moving into June, we will continue hosting meetups and events around the world as we roll out new versions of the testnet.

Here are some highlights of the past month as well as a preview of what’s to come:
Highlights
- the Nervos testnet Rylai is live and mining in motion!

Development
- We have released v0.13.0 rylai-v2!
For more details make sure to check Ian Yang’s bi-weekly Nervos CKB Development Update#11. - The Rylai testnet will be rolled out in phases, the current version focused on consensus, peer-to-peer networking and CKB-VM. The first phase also includes a basic smart contract programming model and developers can try to build and run CKB scripts.
- There are several experiments building on CKB now, including implementing the “Lightning Network’s Bidirectional Payment Channels on CKB”, check out this github repo by Yaning.
Community
- On May 18, the same day Nervos Testnet went live, we celebrated the launch of Rylai with the community and supporters in Beijing. If you want to know why we call it Rylai and what you can do on Rylai, please read this article Real Testnet, for a better world! (in Chinese)
- Kevin represented Nervos at the Token Summit on the panel “Experiments in Cryptoeconomics” and discussed how to capture the value generated by the ecosystem and allow the system to run for a long time, here is the recap.
- Nervos, SKALE, Celer, Matic, Alacris, Loom, Adriged, Matter Labs, and Connext held a large-scale meetup the Future of Layer 2 NYC Edition, here is the video recording. it was the third layer 2 meetup after the future of Layer 2 SF and the future of Layer 2 Prague.
- At the 8BTC’s technical open day in Hangzhou, Daniel shared the speech What is the underlying infrastructure of the next generation blockchain?
- Ren’s meetup at SF Blockchain Center on “What PoS cannot achieve”.
- Haichao presented in UTXO, Account vs Cell Model hosted by ABC Blockchain Community.
- May 27 & 28, during the Building Ecosystem for A New Data Economy meetup and our first Nervos meetup in Seoul supported by Huobi Korea, our community manager Ryan introduced Nervos to the Korean community.
- May 28, on the Ethcon Korea, Henry presented State Rent & tokeneconomic model design of Nervos.
- Crypto Wednesday #21: Ajian (Ethfans content director) brought a sharing of Governance. Professor Yong Chang and Chao Pan (Head of China at MakerDAO) also came to the roundtable discussion.
- Crypto Wednesday #22 : Haichao gave a demo on How to mine CKB on Rylai testnet.
- Fork it #8: “Let’s talk about Cross-Chain Interoperability” by Daniel and Cipher, they discussed about Cosmos, Polkadot, ChainX, IRIS Network and Hashlock. The Forkit podcast is also available on Ximalaya and NetEaseMusic.
