All I Can Be
Me —
Just an extra in a picture show
When will I get the lead
A single flower in a Maytime Fair
When will they notice me
They don’t see me but pearce me with eyes
Intimidation flooding the soul in disguise
Stay or should I go, walking fast I don’t know
Emotions won’t listen, thoughts everywhere
Don’t look, Don’t look — OKAY LOOK!
Yet I am still standing here
There was no movement anywhere
It’s in my head, but did they hear, did they hear??
Why am I really here
Is my reflection perception deceiving me
Is this what I was meant to be
Who would give me this life
Are we all just numbers
This existence thrown to chance
All I can be, someone please see that in me
All I can be, put the spotlight on me
Here Comes Love, I have sight now I can see
Alone among so many
That’s when you talk to me
You keep talking to me
I hear your heartbeat and I know
I can keep the rhythm, I feel the beat
I can keep the rhythm, without defeat
All I can be, please see it in me
There’s another beat that comes
I hear the drummer and I start to dance
Through the night for hours
Everybody could see me
I can hear it, I still hear it
I broke through — who knew!
Traces of life would be evidence
Please convict mortality
Oh love was so, so far away
Now it’s getting closer
It’s getting closer to me
All I can be, someone sees it in me
All I can be, the spotlight is on me
Do you see me? ©
