To our readers
Eight years ago, we came to Kerala with hope and humility, and we have since been overwhelmed by the warmth of your reception. Yours is a state that has led India in human development — from health and sanitation to education and poverty reduction; on indicators such as literacy, infant mortality and life expectancy, the Kerala model has recieved worldwide acclaim. It is this model that has helped the state tackle the outbreak of COVID-19 — a success story that The Times of India has highlighted to its millions of readers around the country over the past few weeks through a series of in-depth reports and data rich graphics.

So it is with a heavy heart that we announce the closeure of TOI’s editions circulated in the districts of Kollam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kannur, Kozhikode, Malapuram, Alapuzha, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta at the end of this month. The coronavirus pandemic, and the ensuing lockdown, has led to an unprecedented economic crisis. The newspaper industry has been amont the hardest-hit. It has left us with no option but to rationalise some of our editions. Our commitment to this great state remains steadfast, and we are continuing with our Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram editions for readers in Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram districts. We will also report important and interesting stories coming out of your region for our print and online readers across India and the world. And we look forward to continuing our relationship online at timesofindia.indiatimes.com and through our news app.
