Responding to Joe Váradi’s “what rhymes with anniversary?” and first attacker, Ed Newman’s “What Rhymes With Anniversary?

The question was raised with most poets unphased
’bout rhyming with the word anniversary.
We could have let it go, but if you know Joe,
a review’s warranted that’s not cursory.

But first, the occasion for debate raisin’,
it’s NCiR’s first anniversary!
And who would have thunk it when we launched last year,
the poets we’d attract would weave fine mercery.

A harmonious group, a fine rhyming troupe,
irreverent but no one’s diversory.
All the sweeter celebrating our poets,
on this first of it’s kind anniversary

What’s really been fun, I include everyone
whose humor’s at times stuck in the nursery.
Sophisticated can be overrated
on this laughs and gaffes anniversary.

Topics discovered and rhymed crimes uncovered
won site-wide acclaim this anniversary.
Shallow or deep dive, this site comes alive
