Thousands of citizens phoned the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s to support Rep. Elijah Cummings’s call for a review of Trump’s apparent conflicts of interest.

Cummings’s initial letter to Committee Chairman Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R) received no response. A few days ago, Cummings sent a follow-up letter, signed by all 17 Oversight Committee Democrats, that said, “Americans across the country have flooded our Committee’s offices with thousands of calls in strong support of this investigation, jamming our phone lines with more calls than we have ever received in response to any other issue.”

Support is being noted. Even if you called the first time, call again.

Script

Hi, my name is ____. I would like to urge the chairman and committee to protect our nation’s integrity by taking up the Oversight Democrats’ call for an immediate investigation into Trump’s financials and increasingly apparent conflicts of interest. I request that the Committee demand all of Trump’s financial information. My phone number is ____.

Words of encouragement

The Oversight Committee Democrats are already trying to make this investigation happen. Registering loud approval of their effort and distrust of elected officials who refuse to investigate could help.

If you’d like to know a bit more about the situation, read the follow-up letter first. (It’s a surprisingly clear read and gives excellent background on some of the specific conflicts of interest that people are concerned about.)
