Greetings NuNetopians,

Without a doubt, this has been a groundbreaking year for NuNet. Every metric from team size, software development, blockchain integration and community involvement has grown and advanced. In this article, we will look back at everything that has occurred in the evolution of NuNet in 2022, and look forward to what is to come in 2023.

Team Growth and Software Development

At the beginning of this year, there were only 6 staff members at NuNet (not counting advisors from SingularityNET who were involved), which has now grown to about 25 members. The majority of the team are in software development, though positions have also been added in the areas of marketing, accounting, business development, human resources, and legal compliance.

The NuNet Adapter system, which was released for the private alpha last year, has been replaced by our Device Management Service (DMS). The GPU accelerated machine learning and Cardano stake pool operator (SPO) use cases are essentially complete and ready for community testing, but still need the payment system in order to begin. The smart contracts for the payment system have been written, but work on their integration with NuNet and oracles is still ongoing. Once this is complete, testing of the use cases can begin with the community on the Discord server. More about the testing program will be covered in a later section.

Blockchain Integrations

After its initial launch on the Ethereum blockchain in 2021, the NTX token has been integrated into a few other blockchains. First, in April of this year, the NuNet token was bridged to the BNB Chain. However, it was recently decided that we would not continue to support that blockchain with staking and yield farming rewards, and our liquidity on Pancakeswap will be removed on January 31st, 2023. After this time, users will have no other option than to bridge their NTX tokens on BNB back to Ethereum using the Multichain Bridge. This is being done so that we can provide greater support on the Cardano blockchain, where our project has received greater interest and support in that community.

The NTX token has existed on the Cardano blockchain since its launch, but in April, when the SingularityNET Converter Bridge went live, it became possible for users to bridge NTX from Ethereum to Cardano and vice versa. Soon after, we launched a yield farming pool to incentivize liquidity provision on Minswap, a decentralized exchange (DEX) on Cardano, which will continue to be supported for the foreseeable future. It is also important to note that staking and yield farming continue on the Ethereum blockchain via the SingularityDAO app.

Reward Programs

This year saw the completion of the airdrop of NTX for AGIX holders. The airdrop took place in four different releases occurring in January, April, July and October. The most comprehensive information on how the airdrop was conducted can be found in this article.

Going forward, NuNet will be rewarding community members who actively participate in the development of the network through a program we call the Earndrop. An initial, somewhat experimental, Earndrop was conducted during September and October, which rewarded delegators of chosen stake pools that had applied to be part of our program. More information about this first Earndrop can be read here. Future Earndrops will require different action from participants, the next of which will likely involve the testers currently helping with development in our Discord server. More information about the testing program can be found in its section below.

Public Engagements

NuNet participated in several public engagement activities this year including the Rare Bloom convention and the Cardano Summit.

Rare Bloom was a community organized convention originally led by Cardano influencer Big Pey and a few others at the Gaylord Rockies resort. NuNet had a booth at the convention center and CEO Kabir Veitas gave a presentation on the second day. Read more about NuNet’s participation in Rare Bloom from this article. In 2023, this event will be renamed Rare Evo and is being organized by other Cardano community members; learn more about it on their twitter profile: https://twitter.com/RareEvo .

The official Cardano Summit took place this year at many locations around the world, with the main venue being Lausanne, Switzerland. A NuNet video presentation was shown at several of the locations, with an in-person presence at the Los Angeles and Lausanne venues. See this article for more information.

Kabir Veitas also spoke at a Web3 convention in Vilnius, Lithuania on December 7th. The video of his presentation can be viewed here.

Discord Server Launch and Testing Program

This November, NuNet launched its Discord server, with the express purpose of connecting the community with the development team, in order to conduct testing of the network. Since then, over 190 devices have been successfully onboarded to the network. As mentioned above, testing of use cases will begin soon, once the forthcoming payment system is completed. Learn more about the Discord and testing program from this article, or go ahead and get involved on the server.

Partnerships

We recently announced a couple new partnership opportunities. IAMX will offer identity solutions for NuNet to allow users to complete know-your-customer and know-your-business screening when needed. Read more about this partnership in our recent article.

Compute Over Data (COD) is also partnering with NuNet to establish connections with their community of projects such as Filecoin and IPFS. Learn more about it here.

Looking Ahead To 2023

NuNet has many milestones that wewill be tackling in the coming year, some of which should be ready for release in the early months. Once testing of the GPU and SPO use cases commences, work will begin on the release to mainnet, marking the beginning of the much-awaited public alpha, tentatively in Q1 2023. The next step in development will be the scaling up of the GPU ML use case to allow for GPU clusters to be connected.

As mentioned earlier, the Earndrop program will continue, in order to reward those who are aiding in the testing. A claiming portal will also be released for the NFTs promised to participants in the Rare Bloom and Cardano Summit conventions.

2022 has been a landmark year for NuNet, and we look forward to growing with the community in the coming years as we continue to advance our goal to create global decentralized cloud computing for all.
