In Part One of this report, we established that people actually persuade themselves in an act of unconscious self-hypnosis. This model explains how a master persuader who does not have physical access to the subject’s brain is able to make the separate subject act as if his mind is being controlled.

The key is to enter into the subject’s internal conversation via storytelling and other modalities and to “piggyback” on their internal story. Once congruence or pacing is achieved, then the subject can be led in a new direction. The implications of this reality of mental life are extraordinary.

The mass media of music, motion pictures, and television have the advantage of massively overloading the sensory inputs of the subject in combination with verbal and non-verbal compliance triggers. The mass entertainment media also enjoy the bonus of being in the business of persuading while giving the appearance of not being engaged in persuasion.
