Position title: Social Media Intern

Department: Marketing and Communications

Reports to: Digital Media Director

SigEp’s Marketing & Communication team is seeking student interns to produce content for its social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and Snapchat. The ideal candidate possesses strong writing skills, has a flair for visuals and photography, and is able to suggest and produce ideas for new styles of content.

JOB OVERVIEW: SigEp’s Marketing & Communication team is responsible for creating community and brand affinity through the use of storytelling with social media. To this end, social media interns will assist in the brainstorming, production and analysis of SigEp’s content. In the process, interns will gain valuable knowledge in social media and digital marketing and analysis.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Create writing, visual and multimedia content for social media and potentially take the lead in managing other Sigep accounts.
  • Keep SigEp’s social media directory, Twitter lists & Facebook list up to date.
  • Suggest social media postings from events/experiences for SigEp social media account with postings in shared social media calendar.
  • Learn management tools Sprout Social and/or Bit.ly system to identify trending or popular content.
  • Identify best places (on website, social media, newsletter, etc) to promote this content and develop ideas to produce similar content.
  • Contribute written stories for additional outlets that could include the SigEp blog and SigEp Journal.
  • Create other social media content such as infographics, curated social media posts, Snapchats, etc.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a passion for sharing SigEp’s mission of #BuildingBalancedMen and being #AValuedPartnerInHigherEducation
  • Must have experience managing social accounts for an organization or brand
  • Must have strong writing skills with a knack for storytelling
  • Must have a strong ethic of professionalism
  • Must be adept at use of social media for both personal and professional use
  • Must have experience or interest in PR, journalism or marketing
