Writing academic article and research article seems to be difficult for all beginners. This is due to the fact that academic writing requires fundamental knowledge of English e.g. grammar, tense, and arrangement of sections in an article. For example, present tense is mostly used in an abstract, present perfect tense should be used in an introduction and background information, and past tense is used for reporting experiment results.

Active voice: Reporters write news reports.

Academic word list (awl)

Writer must use appropriate academic word, i.e. the world “get” or “receive” are both fine for daily use, but “obtain” would be more appropriate or the word “appear” should be changed to “occur” for more appropriate academic writing style. Writer should learn the usage of Noun, Verb, Adjective, and Adverb to be able to use them correctly. For example, the noun “Train” could mean differently when it is used as verb in a sentence. Some websites for checking are listed below.
