July 2022 Highlights

The first Octopus Network Community Call was held to discuss DAO formation.
Octopus Network was invited to participate in the RUST.CC China Conference and held a workshop on “Realizing Substrate Assets Cross-chain through Substrate — IBC”.
Portalverse Network, a decentralized cloud gaming protocol, completed a multi-million dollar Seed Round.
Plats Network, a Web3 marketing platform, joined Octopus Network as an Appchain candidate.
Horizonland, the virtual world of eSports games, joined Octopus Network as an Appchain candidate.

Octopus Network released Barnacle EVM — An EVM application chain development template that supports unified accounts.

Octopus Network Smart Contracts

The Anchor contract provides security and cross-chain related functions for the application chain.

The Anchor contract was modified and optimized based on a recent audit report.

Substrate IBC comprehensive interconnection between Octopus Appchain with Cosmos and Polkadot has been realized.

DEIP Appchain

On July 7, DEIP offered airdrops to early investors.

On July 8, DEIP and Digital Lawyers created a strategic partnership. Digital Lawyers is a leading law firm providing a full range of legal services to ensure DEIP’s legal compliance.

On July 19, Alex Shkor, DEIP CEO, delivered the keynote speech, “Creator Economy: Tooling and Infrastructures to Empower the Open Metaverse” at the Metaverse Summit event in Paris.

Fusotao Appchain

Fusotao completed their IDO on multiple platforms during the month of July in preparation for launch.

On July 6, 2022, Portalverse Network, a decentralized cloud game metaverse network, announced the completion of a multi-million dollar seed with support from Big Brain Holdings, Cogitent Ventures, Octopus Venture Dao, 2Moon Capital and individual angel investors.

Plats Network Appchain

Plats Network, a Summer 2022 Accelerator Star Prize Winner, officially announced its Appchain Candidacy.

Plats Network is building a community-owned Web3 Marketing Platform with an Action Hub that gathers Users, Referrers (Game Guilds, KOLs, Influencers, etc.) and Clients (both crypto and non-crypto) — and benefits them all.

HorizonLand eSport Metaverse Appchain

HorizonLand, a Summer 2022 Accelerator Star Prize Winner, officially announced its Appchain Candidacy.

HorizonLand is building a play-to-earn, multi-eSport Metaverse Ecosystem with multiple in-world MMO eSport games such as billiards, bowling, chess, poker, and more, supported by a multi-utility NFT mechanism.

Horizonland’s cities are built to be an esports paradise — with high-class hotel structures, futuristic residential villas, and wild transportation.

Octopus Network 1st Community Call — Constructing the DAO

The first Octopus Network Community Call was officially launched in July to open a dialogue with the community regarding the community governance of the Octopus Network.

The monthly Community Call is to be held on Discord on the 8th of each month at 21:00 GMT+8 for all verified validators, delegators, and Core Team Members via Discord and conducted in both English and Chinese.

Why is dYdX migrating from Ethereum to Cosmos?

On July 8, 2022, 0x499’s podcast, DeLight, invited Louis Liu, founder of Octopus Network, and Echo, an analyst from Chain Teahouse, for an in-depth discussion on dYdX’s decision to migrate from Ethereum to Cosmos.

Meanwhile, the Octopus Network Fusotao Appchain, which is also a verification protocol for order book-based matching, has chosen to build on the appchain technology stack from the beginning.
