Thanks Sam (Frontend/Mobile App Engineer) for helping me write the dev part!

It’s been roughly a month since our launch, and July has been an explosive and consolidating month for Ooh La La. Here is a quick overview of our recent growth throughout the month:

👥 User Acquisition

  • New Users: 0 ➞ 1.8K+
  • #of Countries We’ve Reached: 0 ➞ 73
  • Average Engagement Time: 0 ➞ 04m 05s (It means that on average each user is staying for at least one track per visit to Ooh La La — supposing that their main purpose of using Ooh La La is for listening to music NFTs. Hooray!)

🗞 Public Relations

✍️ Contents Creation

  • We published a legal guideline for musicians and their fans.
  • Also, check out this step-by-step tutorial we provided for our users to walk them through the different features provided by Ooh La La.
  • Our Artist Relations Manager Jay (a musician himself 👨‍🎤) has been experimenting with various music NFT minting platforms and writing a step-by-step guide for artists who are new to the industry. We will post it on Medium when it’s ready! (Also try listening to his tracks on Mintsongs here 😉)

🤖 Dev Updates

We haven’t introduced our engineering team before, so before we get into the details, let me spend a few paragraphs introducing our fascinating devs ✨🧑‍💻:

Ooh La La’s engineering team has been hardworking to deal with the tradeoff between working with an experimental technology (i.e. music NFTs) and figuring out how we can provide the best user experience.

FineTree built a foundational tech stack for Ooh La La. He is the one behind all the data aggregation you see on the app, and creates a really nice and simple API for the rest of the team 🔮. Mev brought the advanced search to life with attention to detail in terms of user experience, and the response from the community is amazing 💎. And Sam, who took charge of coding Ooh La La’s appearance and interface, is now spending 5% of his time on the frontend, 10% on developing the upcoming mobile app, 80% on squashing bugs, and 5% on advanced research in memes. 🤡

So, What’s Poppin’?

  1. We created the #dev-updates channel in our Discord to interact more frequently with our users and community members! Please stay tuned to the channel to be the first to know what the team is currently building and focusing on.
  2. Advanced Search: The hottest feature update since launch has arrived! Users can now apply a search filter based on platforms/track length/minted amount/mint date/chains in our Explore tab. We hope Ooh La La can help normie listeners (including non-crypto users) discover new music across various platforms.
  • Right from the beginning of its alpha release, Ooh La La has been aiming to provide a way for anyone to search tracks, playlists, and artists. (The cool thing is you can also see all music NFTs owned by a wallet by entering ENS or wallet address in the search box at the top of the site!)
  • The problem is that you are limited by what you know. What if you don’t know what to search for? What if you want to discover new music NFTs without any knowledge of the space? What if you just want to see top tracks from Sound.xyz that is just minted last week?
  • We thought we could improve our service by introducing “advanced search” feature. This would open up a new entrance for the beginners who are just curious about music NFTs and also the veterans who want to find and filter the NFTs for their own use.
  • We believe this feature would help a lot of people in finding the music NFTs that they love listening to and wish to collect! 🎧🛒

3. Upload custom playlist cover image (Released today! — 08/05/2022)

  • Because Ooh La La wants to bring the product out the door as quickly as we can, there are features that we think would be better to iterate on along with subsequent updates.
  • One of the highly requested features was the ability to customize a playlist, especially its cover. We finally released the feature for our users: you can now upload a custom image in JPG or PNG for your playlist cover. We will continue to work and improve playlist customization in the upcoming releases.

There are more awesome updates in the roadmap that we are excited to share in the coming months. Not to say it in a thump chest way, but it took only 2 months for us to build and launch Ooh La La. Huge shoutout to our devs, and we believe that the coming months will be wild as fire! 🔥🔥
