$WORK Coalition Referrals Competition: Round 1 Complete
On April 21, 2021 we introduced the $WORK token and a competition that would help grow Coalition-Membership in the Employment Commons Cooperative.
ROUND 2 ENDED on June 30- results will be announced shortly.
ROUND 3 BEGAN on July 1 and will run through July 31st.
For your convenience and reference, here was the competition section of that announcement:
Between April 21 and May 31 we had 1,973 new members join the Coalition to support self-sovereign employment from 63 countries. 238 of those new members (~12%) made at least one referral. The above model to distribute 1,650,000 $WORK was based on 1000 referrers and scales down based on the number of referrers. Since there were 238 referrers, 349,997 $WORK are being distributed based on the same percentage allocations to each placeholder.

How to Receive your $WORK
To earn $WORK, you must be a Member of the Employment Commons. If you are listed on the Leaderboard as having earned $WORK, but you aren’t a member of the Commons, you will be unable to claim your $WORK. To become a member, go to commons.opolis.co, and fill out the onboarding wizard. If you need assistance, you can use this guide we created for your convenience.
If you miss the initial distribution, you will have until August 1, 2021 to become a Member. Any $WORK that is not claimed on August 1 will revert to the treasury for future use.

Of the Employee Members who joined the Cooperative during Round 1, 55% came from Coalition Members and 45% came from existing Employee Members.
Two Important Announcements
- Round 2 started on June 1 and will conclude at midnight on June 30. The parameters for Round 2 were identical to Round 1.
- Round 3 will started on July 1 and will run for 1 month to conclude at midnight on July 31, 2021. We will be instituting a referral-link system to improve the gamification of the obvious alpha, while make tracking referrals easier. We will also be scaling up the reward for referring an Employee Member. If you refer an Employee Member to start on or before August 1, you’ll receive 100,000 points, whereas a Coalition Member referral still earns 1,000 points.
