A MO-numental Event: Movember at Orange

I’d like to start by explaining that at Orange, we have a really strong team culture and jump at any opportunity to dress up or throw an event! By no means do we do things by halves…we’ve thrown countless Double Denim days, Halloween dress-ups, a Brazilian Festival and challenged our team and clients to many foosball and table tennis matches over the years.

This year when Movember came around we saw it as an amazing opportunity to raise awareness and funds for men’s health, while also taking advantage of any opportunity to make witty moustache puns.

What is Movember?

You’ve probably noticed a large portion of the male population have been rocking some serious facial hair this month — Movember is the reason for this MO-vement. Since 2004 the Movember Foundation has run events around the globe to raise awareness and funds for prostate and testicular cancer, in addition to mental health and suicide prevention.

The Movember Foundation partners with a range of amazing mens health organisations in the areas of mental and physical health.

A MO-jestic month

When we were planning our Movember activities we came up with the brilliant idea of combining two of our strongest loves — moustaches and foosball. Every donation made was an entry into our Movember Foosball Competition!

To make the event even more special, we partnered up with our friends at Send Your Friend A Penis Drawing. Yes, you read that correctly. SYFAPD is a fantastic initiative where you can order a limited edition, hand-drawn piece of phallic art to bring some joy to a friend. What’s even better is that SYFAPD created some limited edition Movember products and is donating 100% of all profits from the sales of those to the Movember Foundation.

SYFAPD was generous enough to create a large (VERY large) custom Movember edition artwork as the major prize for our foosball competition.

“Each of my artworks are special and bring joy to their recipients, but it was extra special to be invited to present my largest work to date, in person, to the 2018 Orange Digital foosball champion. I guess, like they always say, it’s not the size that counts but rather how you use it to raise funds for crucial men’s health programs.” — Brendan Pearce, World’s Premiere Charity Penis Drawing Artist

Treat your eyes and check out the SYFAPD Instagram and Facebook page. You won’t regret it, trust me.

Yes, that’s me who was fortunate enough to win the spectacular prize which is now proudly on display in my home (and a great conversation starter).

MO-gnificent Memories

We are proud to say that we raised $400 this month for the Movember Foundation and we’d like to thank everyone who made a donation. Our Movember Foosball Competition was an event that will go down in Orange history and has only inspired us to go bigger and bolder for our 2019 Movember event.

If you’re interested in getting behind some of the incredible organisations supported by the Movember Foundation, please check out the links below:

  • TrueNTH Prostate Cancer helps men and their partners access the care they need when they need it.
  • Ahead of The Game is a sports-based initiative that targets adolescent men, their coaches and their parents. The program involves a mental health awareness campaign for adolescents, workshops on the signs of mental health problems, online learning modules, a guide for coaches to improve the motivation of their athletes, and a workshop specially designed for parents.
  • TrueNTH Testicular Cancer — a digital tool designed and built with the help of men who had lived through testicular cancer to give men the information they need in a way that makes sense to them. It also provides the opportunity for men who are facing a diagnosis of testicular cancer to reach out and make contact with someone who has been there before and who knows what the journey feels like.
