In our two-year roadmap, we announced that we’ll be launching our gallery for tokenized physical artworks before 2021 ends.

As we continue to explore the intersection of art and blockchain technology, we decided to maximize the application of NFTs to physical artworks. With the ongoing pandemic and the future of art in mind, we strongly believe that NFTs are what the physical art world needs.

Tokenizing Physical Art as An Innovative Solution

Ownly House of Art (OHA) will provide a solution to traditional artists that needs more exposure and collectors that need a frictionless acquisition of high-value physical art pieces. OHA, through the use of NFTs, will create a seamless, transparent, and more efficient sales process.

In OHA, each physical artwork is linked to a specific NFT that will serve as its token. The physical art token can be resold like any other NFT or can be redeemed for delivery of the physical artwork.

Several collectors whose aim is to resell or flip the art don’t need to ship the artwork multiple times, they just need to transfer the proof of ownership, which is the NFT. This keeps the physical artwork in pristine condition in a physical gallery until someone chooses to redeem it.

The Future of OHA

As we expand internationally, we will establish the physical gallery of OHA in Toronto, Canada — one of the largest art hubs in North America. We will also continue to display tokenized physical artworks showcasing the diversity of art genres. Lastly, with both digital and physical art in Ownly’s gallery, we might also add metaphysical artworks in the future.

OHA’s First Tokenized Physical Art Exhibit

OHA’s first exhibit entitled Exploits and Effects will be in partnership with Ayala Malls Legazpi on December 3–5. It is a visual experience composed of seven paintings by three artists, namely Dan Vincent Barotilla, Glenn de Guzman, and Mel Baranda. The exhibit explores the human mind in stages of grief and hope.
