Rejoining the world
I just went a month without eating beef for my Do One Thing project. I personally have a lot of love for cheeseburgers, so unless I one day have some health related illness I will never be giving up beef again. However, I do recommend that others try to remove beef from their diet at some point (even though I personally won’t be doing this) because a single person has an impact. I am nearly 70 pounds light compared to the average American male and I was still able to save 6.5 pounds of beef in four weeks.
What really amazed me was that in one year I could potentially save 100 pounds of beef. What is even crazier is that if the entire country went on the same diet we could save 320 billion pounds of beef (assuming everyone eats the way I do).
It has been almost three weeks now since the purge on my addiction to cheeseburgers ended. It is also three weeks until I am no longer in middle school. I really enjoyed having something to do and knowing that I was making a difference. I do believe that this memory of giving up beef for a month is something that will stay with me.
