Stepping on a landmine

As I took the road less travelled,

Shouting my barbaric yawps,

Amidst the cacophony of dense soul splitting woods,

A faint figure approached,

With an intensity matched only by Pachelbel’s Cannons,

Flowing from an obtuse overture into a crisp crescendo.

The silhouette grew into a bespectacled woman,

Scantily clad in blue and white,

With wit to match my barbaric yawps.

We gathered our rosebuds while we may,

Meandering through the pines,

Hand in hand — exploring each other,

Going everywhere but nowhere.

Annoyed at the directionless displacement,

She made an abrupt turn to see eye to eye,

I looked into her bewitching eyes,

Unguarded by the density of her photo-chrome,

Momentarily I lost myself and stepped on a landmine.
