BitCoins as the new Banners.

Perhaps in a near future?

Today I found an article on Quartz that explains how BitCoin works on the inside, besides the great post and the detail of how does the criptocurrency works, what is truly interesting is the BitCoin mining widget that is embedded in the first paragraph of the post. This little toy uses the javascript engine in your browser to solve the mathematical puzzle that grants the creator a tiny fraction of the digital currency.

The Quartz Article

The fact that you could actually embed a BitCoin mining algorithm in a webpage seems really interesting, perhaps Facebook, Google, Twitter or any other site where users navigate for hours (9Gag? BuzzFeed?) could use this little script to create a new business model. A model where the amount of users and the time spent on the site represents income in the form of BitCoins mined. I understand that mining BitCoins can take a lifetime but if a site has enough traffic and this script embedded; the computational power combined of the users would mine Bitcoins in decent time perhaps this could mean a way of getting rid of the dirty banners in website’s content. Let’s be honest, nobody likes banners.

The most famous criptocurrency in the world works by solving mathematical “puzzles” that can be handled by a very powerful machine or a connected network of smaller ones that split the work working as a distributed brain.

Bitcoin price was around $1200 USD not so long ago.

At least it would be worth trying wouldn’t it?
