Tiny Warship 15 — Baron Destroyer

This series hasn’t had an update in a while, so why not posting another one? Additionally, I have recently started making battle report videos for YouTube, in Portuguese as I do them with my little one. I would love to try the older version of Orion’s Gate for these videos one day, especially as it does feel a bit like Aerotech ‘Lite, in much the same way Alpha Strike feels for Classic Battle Tech. So, with the Davion fleet done, let’s move on with the Kurita one.

The Baron was supposed to be a new war-winning destroyer for the Terran Hegemony. However constant budget and time overruns at a time of swift developments in space warfare lead to a vessel that was already outdated when it finally entered service. Some units were offered to the Great Houses and suffered horribly during the Reunification War. The issues with the type would be mostly resolved in time but the bad reputation would remain.

By the end of the Star League and the start of the Succession Wars most Great Houses had already mothballed their Barons, but House Kurita couldn’t afford to do such as they had little in the way of warship production. These units would soldier on as one of the Kurita main hitters in space combat until they were wiped out.

This is another small model that I really like. The aft side is not as close to the official art as the front, but after searching online for references I decided to to use elements from one of the minis floating around as it looks more dynamic. It takes just 20 parts plus the base and it is easy to put together although the travis brick at the front may be hard to find.

It would count as one of the heavier warships available to the Kuritas, although in Orion’s Gate it would just count as an Escort (3 systems).

Although I do these mostly for fun, I’ll admit that any tips you may leave in my Ko-fi account will help me devote more time to them and the funds to invest in other works, original or otherwise.
