2017 was the year when the idea of compiling a daily newsletter in the blessed month of Ramadan was conceived. It was a positive thought, to share selected hadith from the book Al-Arbaun of Imam An-nawawi with the objective that Muslims will derive immense benefit from the notes. I never thought I’d look down memory lane to find myself writing this piece today. Alhamdulillah! This is why, your why is very important.

The daily articles that served as enlightenment and reminder for Muslims has transformed into Ramadan Musings. The theme for this year’s newsletter 1445 AH/2024 CE is tagged: “The Daily Revival” based on the work of Sheikh Ali Hammuda. This will be a collection of good deeds that have largely been forsaken.

Imam Hassan Al-Basri said: A sign of their love of the Prophet ﷺ was in their adherence to his way.

This is love in its truest and most rewarding form. For indeed your station and love in the eyes of Allah lies in your adherence to the prophetic way.

Allah says:

Say (O Prophet): “If you really love Allah, then follow me, and Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Most-Forgiving, Very-Merciful.” — Quran 3[Al-’Imran]:31

Contrarily in today's world, things have changed dramatically. The companions used to insist on following every sunnah, “because it’s a sunnah”. While many of us now downplay the sunnah, arguing that it’s just a sunnah.

Allah’s Apostle ﷺ said: “whoever revives a sunnah of mine which has been forsaken after me, he will be given the reward of all those who act upon it without any of their rewards diminishing”. — Tirmidhi

In sha Allah every day, we shall examine one good deed from the sunnah that’s rarely done, provide evidence for it, enlist the benefits, see how the earlier Muslims embraced it and then encourage us to revive it. Our usual @DhikrPosters will still feature as cover image — check them out for more beautiful designs. I pray Allah makes this little effort beneficial to you and me. Amin!

Let’s strive to relive every Islamic practice we learn each day of this blessed month and make it count as a daily revival for you. Make sure you try to practice it yourself, share with your immediate family and extend to your wider circle. Do not belittle a good deed, it might be what will come to your rescue on the day of reckoning.

Yaumul Ithnayn 1st Ramadan 1445 AH // Monday 11th March 2024.
