Subscribers:

April was the best month on record for Panel & Frame yet. Somewhere in the middle of it all, we hit our goal of reaching one thousand Medium follows, published a couple of pieces that reached a measure of virality, and were featured by Medium’s editing staff’s collections multiple times. I want to take this chance to thank all of you — all 1,750 of you — for being the best group of subscribers, readers, and contributors on this corner of the Internet. We couldn’t do it without you.

In contributing, reading, or interacting with stories from Panel & Frame, you’re helping us reach our goal of promoting independent creators of amazing content.

As May arrives, and April becomes a distant memory, I thought I’d reach out and further promote some of my favorite pieces from the last 30 days. In my humble opinion, these are the voices that have been defining Panel & Frame’s presence on Medium, and they represent some of the finest work you can find on the site. I hope you’ll agree!

The Dog Princess, Chapter 1 by Giulia Blasi

Giulia Blasi brings us to a fantasy realm, and into the life of a prince (who is terrible at everything) that must marry a princess (renowned for her ugly face), in the first chapter of this multi-part romance series.

On the Trail of an Untouchable Rat, Chapter 1 by Thaddeus Howze

Thaddeus Howze intricately crafts a world just beyond our perception, filled to the brim with magic and demons. Clifford Engram, noir-style paranormal investigator, must investigate a mysterious disappearance that could spell doom for the city.

Fetch: Fascists by Kevin Moore

Kevin Moore’s biting satirical cartoon “Fetch” gives us a bit of historical perspective on claims that fascism is on the rise in the United States.

A Taste Down Memory Lane by Emei Burell

Emei Burell’s beautifully illustrated comic captures perfectly the nostalgia that comes from taking a bite of a long-forgotten frozen treat.

Why We Need a Faithful Adaptation of Frankenstein by Tom Farr

The continued re-booting of Frankenstein by Hollywood has never truly captured the essence of Mary Shelley’s classic horror novel. Tom Farr gives us an in-depth look at why that’s such a shame.

Once again, thank you all for helping us continue to grow in both reach and prestige over the course of the last month. As always, be sure to recommend your favorite stories, and pass them along to your friends, family, and fans on your favorite social media platforms!

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more excellent content, and updates on our crowdfunding project!
