Biweekly update on the Polkadot ecosystem vol. 45, 25th August — 9th September

TL;DR

  • Congratulations to Aventus Network on winning Polkadot’s 26th parachain auction! Aventus is building an enterprise-grade blockchain on Polkadot to make building in the Polkadot ecosystem and beyond accessible for businesses and decentralized platforms
  • The next parachain lease auction begins tomorrow, 10 Sep, at block 11_992_000 (approx. 22:12 UTC)
  • Polkadot introduced Unbounded, the first open-source, freely available and on-chain funded font in the world
  • Referendum 72, proposing to upgrade the Polkadot runtime to v9270, has passed and the network has been upgraded
  • Referendum 73, proposing to upgrade the Statemint runtime to v9270, is currently passing unanimously with few days left to vote
  • With three days left in the current Kusama parachain auction, both BitCountry Pioneer and Quartz by Unique have been in the leading during the Ending Period
  • Referendum 227, seeking to lift restrictions on nomination pools (thus allowing 256 pools and 1024 members/pool), is passing unanimously with few days left to vote.
  • Referendum 228, proposing to upgrade Kusama to runtime 9280, is passing unanimously
  • The staking rate on Kusama continues to climb and is currently at 53.9%, a 0.1 percentage point increase from 24 hours ago
  • Bifrost and Coinbase Cloud enter into a strategic collaboration. SALP Polkadot goes live, vsDOT to migrate to Bifrost Polkadot Parachain
  • LayerZero, an omnichain interoperability protocol, deploys to Moonbeam, enabling developers with a wider array of secure messaging features & adding to cross-chain capabilities on the network. Moonbeam has updated its existing tutorial on how to participate in Moonbeam on-chain governance with Polkassembly. A new proposal was issued for Moonbeam’s Interim Grants Program
  • It’s been a year since Moonriver fully launched
  • New HRMP channels have opened between Moonbeam and Astar Network. Blockdaemon joins Astar to support builders. Alchemy is now live on Astar
  • KuCoin has partnered with Bit.Country to launch its own Metaverse
  • August has been crazy for Celer — 11 new partners, hitting an amazing milestone, and seeing the community launch something awesome. Celer partnered with Diffusion on Evmos to launch 3 Celer-token pools that are now available for their users
  • Acala is in the final stage tracing the last aUSD error mints. A new update regarding the aUSD incident was posted, including what has happened so far and what’s next
  • Composable has been busy testing on Rococo, Polkadot’s testnet. Last week they issued a connection between two chains using IBC. Composable Finance has published a brief summary (of the XCVM use cases including aggregation, arbitrage, and how an improved UX and developer tooling will help to onboard new DeFi users.
  • Equilibrium and Genshiro are both now live on Subscan, allowing users to visualize and verify their on-chain data such as their accounts and transfers
  • A proposal to support ASTR token on Parallel Money Market is up for discussion. Parallel/Heiko AMM APY Multiplier is now activated
  • Kylin Network joins Equilibrium’s closed beta. The monthly Technical Update is out.

  • Subwallet officially completed Substrate Builders Program Milestone #1. SubWallet was also one of the first to integrate Substrate Connect’s light client
  • Turing auto-compounding for staking rewards is now available, enabled via a simple compound toggle switch

  • Updates on the aUSD Incident — 22 August 2022: A new update regarding the aUSD incident was posted, including what has happened so far and what’s next.
  • The Full Trace Report has been published. 281 involved addresses were traced. Of the 52.068M outstanding aUSD error mints, 42.482M remain on these addresses. Error mints sent to other parachains, CEXs, etc were also included.
  • If you have returned funds, please follow the instructions to provide evidence of return so the team can update the trace report.
